DSM Question
I figured I'd post on here since there are a lot of people on here with engine building/dsm experience plus I'd get a much quicker response.
I have two questions, first is are Cometic metal HG's reusable? I got the HG new, put it on my set up and ended up having to pull the head off and use a different head, the block was decked originally and both heads were surfaced. It should be fine right?
Also, this setup (6 bolt swap in my 97 GSX) hasn't been driven yet, it's only sat in my driveway and idled as I've been working on other things as well. Now at idle (~1000rpm) its at 20inHg. Now I try to give it gas, it revs up etc, but once it hits 3000rpm, if you try to push it past it, it was sputter and not climb any higher, then once you let off the gas it sounds like a diesel truck after revving up lol. Anywhere above 2500rpm and then letting off the gas you can hear it.
Heres a vid http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...t=MVI_0628.flv
Engine sounds pretty bad in that video lol, there is an exhaust leak in the manifold right now and the alternator belt needs to be tightened.
Any ideas? I know there is a small boost leak (like a pin hole) but there could be something bigger. Shouldn't the bov be opening up?

Could be a bad mas or coil. Make sure its timed correctly. And for god sakes, get DSMLink!!!
Also sounds like really bad compressor surge.... Shouldnt do that on just free revving, its not like your putting that much of a load on the car either... Something is messed up.
BTW, get rid of cometic... Piece of garbage. Should just stay with the mitsu 4-layer.

Call me nuts but I think the BOV is set too low and is letting the air to recirculate back into the Intake in great flow. Basically the air is not going much into the intake manifold and instead into the intake(turbo inlet).
The one clear indication to me was to hear the BOV opening at very low engine load. Typically at 300rpm and without any engine load the turbo only builds 3-5 psi. It is very extrenage to me that the BOV is already opening at such low PSI.
