^^ I agree with the supply and the demand but Cmon, droping $20000 deposit fro a GTR is simply bul****. The pricing makes you assume that there will be no bargain from the MSRP, in fact it suggest that they have a mark up.

Their number is 1 (866) 817 1102. I was excited about this car(GTR), a fellow evo member and good personal friend (Edwin) already test drove one in Hong Kong a few days ago and the feedback on the car was great.

This is a step backwards. I was selling my BMW to pitch in money and get this car, I am now heavily drifting towards the 08 C6 or 08 C6 Z06. My friend Edwin would be interested on one as well.

I have zero to do with sales, but we have been offered 20k down, but they are not taking it.

It's unfortunate but I am in no way expecting to find a GTR for list within 2 years of them coming out. If the car's as great as I think it will be the wait will probably take longer.....Just the way it is. A Z06 is not a GTR, different history, different crowd. I don't think Nissan is particularly worried about losing sales to the Z06. The people who want a GTR and have the cash and inclination will buy them...Simple as that.

I wouldn't drop that kind of money in that car. That is just way too much hype for the GTR. Personally I don't like them. The ZR1 Vette is something I would rather buy for 80grand.

That is OK, the ZR1 is around the corner and is coming with an iron fist. The GTR is an awesome car for around $70000 MSRP. I don't think it deserves the mark up at all. This car can be made in masses(slower hand built but..) there is no reason to keep a limited production.

As per the Z06 -GTR comparo, so far I have seen probably what you have seen(the Nurburgring times favorable to the GTR) and a 0-60 of 3.3 and a better slalom but the Z06 is virtually right there as well, toe to toe, it is just two different styles, the vette is much more simple but still efficient (3130lbs-505hp) and exotic alloys and materials. The GTR is also a gadget car with its fancy technology but a real pig by all means. Power to weight ratios is a universal rule of thumb and the Z06 is a master on that, it is not negotiable..

I just can't say the GTR is better or worse, I would wait until is released and tested agaisnt the Z06 .

Wow! Too much for a Nissan! Definately not worth the money.

When I was in Korea, i drove the legendaries R33 and R34. I was impressed but the price tag was to high. Even when the exchange rate favored the USD.

Hell!!! There is a stupid dealer in PR that wanted 125K for a 2001 GTR. With that kinda money, I would get me a later Ferrari... a 2003-2004.

For 20K down.... I would be driving a Ferrari or a Lambo. Just my 0.02!

Not true, I am a die hard SPORTS car fan. I purchase the best possible sports car that my pocket book can buy. I love AWD and would take a GTR over a Z06 any day if were the same price. But with this jump in initial price, it makes people like myself mad who might be able to afford it at $70,000 or less. Not $90,000 I will go buy a 360 modena for $90k or a henessy twin turbo viper. Look at how they played this game with ford last year with the GT500 Ford still laughs at the people who paid all that, they are still planning on MASS producing the GT500 for years to come.

^^ I totally agree with you on everything. Here I am an enthusiast hard worker that wouldn't mind spending the right money for the right car. I am not rich but I wouldn't mind working a second job or whatever the case might be to get a car that has the right price.

I am like you, I think the car for $70000 is a OK buy but when they start with the mark up it makes you look at another direction and it basically forces you to not consider this car at all and buy the competition. That is where I am standing right now, this whole thing about the 20K deposit and the mark up already turned me down...

You sound surprised? They are making less of the GTR than the Vette. There isnt a cheaper more affordable (and easily mistaken) version of the GTR around either. The GTR is the GTR. The vette is the vette. Id gladly take either one, but if you want a GTR your going to have to pay for it.

from that same article:

" The Web site Exhaustnote.com warns of additional charges of $25,000-$60,000 over sticker for the GT-R in the U.S. Harrison would not provide advice to consumers on how much of a down payment is reasonable."

Yeah, I believe it, it is happening already.

Not sure you can get that for 80 grand...
And don't compare the ZR1 to the GTR, compare it to the Vspec GTR
But I agree, GTR and vette is completely different crowd and who wants to buy the GTR for the price will get them regardleess of the mark up.

well I had a local nissan rep call me since I made a inquiry online.
some interesting info. I dont think this guy knew to much about the GTR at all.
he said pricing was going to be announced with atleast a $50-60k price tag. hmmm a little under the anticipated $70k huh?
he said they are talking $5k deposit, supposedly 5 deposits with 3 GTR's coming on the first allocation.
oh and he wouldn't tell me the price Addendum without coming in and talking.
I might go and waste a half hour talking to this non-car enthusiast this week, we will see.
