It's all a part of the process. Give it a few years, and those cars will be gone.

sadly seems that way here too. Too much unnecesery parts getting very obvious on the street on the evo's.
I never thought the Evo will be a parking lot - show warrior. The reason is , because its too expensive for that + not that nice looking car.
But its happeneing, who has loudest BOV and exhaust etc.
Sad.

It's only to be expected. We have a car with the street cred of an Evo that's suddenly become affordable to the kids willing to sink their entire paychecks into insurance, maintenance, and repairs (not necessarily in that order). What's going to happen when a major repair comes up? With 7 year old cars having multiple owners racking ~100K hard miles, this is certain to happen. Will the kid be able to come up with a few grand in enough time not to go bankrupt paying through his nose for insurance on a daily driver he can't actually drive? Not likely. Will something as common as a clutch job come down in price to become as affordable as it is on a (say) Honda? Not going to happen anytime soon. Few things are as sure as this.

I would NEVER trade my IX for a X. I personally don't like the body style of the X too much and it's lack of trunk space. I think the IX is one of the most gorgeous cars ever made. Even though it does lack in the luxury department :P

I don't have an opinion either way because I could care less what anyone else thinks of my car. As long as I'm happy with it that's what matters.

On the other hand I will say that 90% of the people I've talked to don't like the way the X looks. Most of the time when Evos get brought up a lot of car guys (who have never owned a Mitsubishi and know very little about them) go on to say something about "what happened to the Evo?" They always comment how they hate the way the new ones look.

This is just in my experience of course.

Yeah your opinion 9 is a better looking car and that’s fair it's your opinion. Although I have never read one magazine where someone referred to an EVO as a good looking car until the X's came out. So at least from a professional journalists point of views EVO X's > IX's looks wise.

http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/ca...2839689Km44BQt

Lol here is a 5th gear video pitting evo VI vs IX and in the video she calls evo IX softer and it turns out a slower time than the evo VI. Sound familiar? (except the part about being slower around the track since X's actually are quicker than the IX's)

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...evo-9-a-2.html

Another thread same forum from 5 years ago pitting VIII vs IX. Funny thing is one guy posts that the mivec will be a big crutch for the tunners, another guys posts that the IX's interior will be "classier". Hater gonna hate emma right?
+1!

I remember one time I went to a local meet with my evo, there just happened to be alot of mustangs and camaro's. I felt like a retarded kid in that meet, and i remember telling my buddy, this guys call themselves car guys yet they hate on every car other than their own models and i thought at that time that was sad.

Lol then I read this thread lol evo guys hating on other evo guys. Both cars are capable the evo x has proven to be just as good if not better in some areas, sure it's heavy yet it still out handles the ix. Looks are subjective. I don't understand why so much hate from the ix owners, the X has a very capable motor, proven time attack monster, proven rally monster, proven drag strip monster (ets already broke 9's). I mean what else......oh yeah i forgot it's not as raw. For all the hate going to the X i guess to me it just doesn't make sense. I would understand if it doesn't make the same power or not as track worthy as the ix but the X can do the job just as good if not better.

Seriously it's so annoying whenever I see a thread go like this "Thinking about getting a evo x" Some idiot and it never fails will always reply "get a ix it's better". Look I like both i will never hate on any evo's. Lol on evo on evo crime.

Completely agree 100%. We all have Evos. We all have the racing heritage and technology. And if you don't believe the X has it, you're very ignorant to facts.

I've owned a VIII (with a lot of IX drivetrain), I own a X MR, and we are soon to be adding another VIII or IX to the family, because we love evos in general. My wife will have an VIII and I will have a X, but I get to use the VIII for HPDE!

I love my X for HPDE, it out handles my VIII did in every possible way. But I can't risk trashing a $35k car vs a $13k car. That is why we are adding an VIII back to the family.

Does anyone else wonder why Kia is sponsoring the Mitsubishi racing team here? Dodge and Jeep I can make a guess about, knowing the former relationships between the corporations, but Kia?

Yes, the X trunk sucks. But no, the looks aren't bad (at ALL), especially that wider axle position and aggressive stance with stock rims and rubber. Old men will tell me they like the looks of that car, but I imagine that previous gens if seen by same old men would get a nod.

The only performance downside of the X, being heavier, is the noticable roll that you need to coil-over out. Not that it's slower than the earlier models, but it's sandbagging its real potential til that's modded; the lighter cars didn't need it that badly.

But AYC, man, that's COOL. As I understand it, USDM's didn't have that til the X. Without it, yeah, it's a blast to drift and drive all out, but the X makes it SOOOOO easy, and a lot safer.

AYC is a 180lb load of crap. So is traction control on an AWD car.
The main effect of Active Yaw Control is to make my Evo twitch in mid-corner on an autocross course. It could suddenly kick the tail out or it could suddenly plow the front tires. Either way, I'd rather not have it. The timer doesn't lie: the more gadgets I turn off, the faster I go.

People used to make fun of Mercedes-Benz for having so many electronic devices second-guessing the driver. Now Mitsubishi puts the "Electric Grandma" in the Evo and people think it's cool.

I'm sure it makes the car very safe in bad weather, but I thought I was getting a sporty car.

You can't completely turn off AYC, even in OFF OFF you have it. The difference between OFF OFF AYC and not having it, is something you want.

Yeah, Mitsubishi gave us an "OFF" button and I use it all I can, but the AYC still likes to say "Hi" in mid-course. That little "ding" from the warning chime is also annoying when I'm trying to race.

My Evo has it's virtues, and I'll keep it for the forseeable future, but if anything ever happened to it I'd look for a replacement with a lot less gadgets. The Evo VIII RS is near the top of the list.

I could swear there was a thread on how to defeat the traction control, but I can't seem to find it now.

Meh.

I have the complete opposite feeling for HPDEs. My X with S-AYC in off and off off blows my VIII out of the water for handling. I can take corners much more aggressively, and hardly ever get any oversteer/understeer as long as I stay in my lines. I haven't tried autocross with my X yet. The X imo, is just not an autocross car.

I think we agree there. I may be better off autocrossing the S13. Slower, but fun and tires last twice as long on that car!!!

I haven't given up on the Evo yet, and I may take it to the road course near Gainesville next year.
