Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
I can agree with this statement. Even though I have spanked a couple of 8/9's in my X and I do love the car. I still wish I would have gotten a 9 instead after test driving one and seeing them on used car lots. That acceleration the 9's have when the turbo kicks in is unmatched. I also like the simple look of the 9's.
Livability in terms of what? Seats are nicer, but it's not more comfortable, quieter etc.. Plus the older cars have a lot more rear leg room (important factor for me)
As far as the leg room, the X has 3" less in the back (which I agree I miss), but other than that and a half inch less in the front, its bigger everywhere else.
But people come in all shapes and sizes.
I have a long torso, and I love the extra headroom. Like, I could wear a helmet in this car if I wanted to and not have to gangsta lean or crank my neck.
Aw man, I differ from you year. The seats are 10x more comfortable in the X to me. I drove two days straight cross country in the X and didn't hurt. This is the first Evo we didn't get the big boy chair option in the USA.

Other than that i was just saying the livability is a bit exaggerated - i'm sure it is better somewhat though, there's a long run factor that i dont see since i dont have the car
extra thought for you kyooh. Just because its raining and im bored LOL
I dont comment on the comfort between the two since that is obvious anyway, the X is better except the trunk space, and that is all who i talk to agrees on. Even you called it a too mature car, which usually / this case too / means more comfort and every day use....
So anyway here is a new thought for you
You stated and so others the IX is the last true rally car so as sport car in the Evo line up. The X is just a dead end.
SO forget Bryan car and others on road course etc. Its been well known that area so lets go to the rally world. / im not talking about drag racing, i feel people are being miss guided when i see an evo drag car. Seems to me like a Mustang rally car, can be done but why? LOL/
The X start developing in the US nicely, as it show the latest US STPR rally too. The X won the CT9A falls behind , not a first time. In Eu this is an old story now. More and more team start building them. I know two other X in building stage in the US already...
So after couple of years , which is ALWAYS needed, if a new platform comes out /remember the switch from VI to VII and that wasnt even this big change, but still took over 2 years to over come the VI/ The X is there where it should be.
So at least we can bravely say and you guys can admit , the IX is not the last true Evo .
LOL
Cheers Rob

honestly though, i really dont care about how the X performs as like a sponsored race car - with teams pouring money into their cars. i dont look at time attack ct9a cars and take pride in my own car, they have nothing to do with my own. i made my decision based on what i felt would be the most enjoyable high performance street car - street car being the emphasis. it's great what pro teams are doing with their cars, i never doubted they would - but it's got nothing to do with me and my car, and same goes for most evo owners that dont pour tons and tons of money into their cars.
i dont recall ever saying anything about the X being a dead end etc. when people were referring to the ix being the "last true evo," they were talking about the character of how the car felt/drove, not how fast it was.

The racing is where you can see the development on the car clearly.
Not just a new cars runned by pro team or amateur teams.
I think this was a weak point.
Also for small budget , like bolt ons, its already proven the X so that is why is skipped that part and a medium class after that.
It was a big argument the X will never be able to compete with the "true" evos. And so. Dont make me quote... LOL
Also the group N cars are basically stock rally cars with safety mods. Great comparison.
About those internet posts, "how i felt" and those stories, i told you my opinion already...
Most of the guys based they opinion , when they ride in they friend cars or "test " drove them or some one told them... LOL
The X has character , not even small one... And it has a look too. The CT9A crowed dont like it.... well...
When i drove my car around got as much, if not more attention then my old ones. The X has a good and strong appearance, just as much as the older ones, period.
Except the V. That is one mean looking machine, in person.
so my point is still pending here for approval

Say it! LOL
Rob
ps/ i might be wrong on that , you might dont called it "end of the Evo's" but you got the point anyway. You still denying the X. Oh well im just waiting for the show and shine when Kyooch show his new X or the next line

Mr. Mom, I'm not. The dude who goes thru tires and brakes every year, that's me.
The X's trunk is a joke, but gladly the stuff they put in the back help provide room under the 'boot' for more service space.
I went from an IX MR to an X GSR and the only thing that I miss is the 6-speed. I love everything the X has to offer over the IX. I guess if I was auto-crossing I might compare the 2 a bit more and then decide, but as of right now, having driven both, I would never go back to the IX after owning the X. Call me crazy...
I have had many cars over the last 10 years but just purchased my first Evo X. I've personally owned everything from a 900 HP Supra to BMW 5 series to Z06 Corvette. Over the years I have had a hard time finding a compromise of everything I am looking for. I choose the Evo X for the following reasons.
* Prices finally becoming resonable on used models (Bought an 08 with 8K miles on it)
* AWD requires I own only one car for all year usage.
* New styling is "mature" enough to not get too much attention at the office but still looks agressive and is a blast to drive. (I just turned 33 last week)
* It's fairly easy to get more performance out of them for not too much $$
* The reviews I have read show the reliability isn't too bad especially for a first year model. (Compared to others I considered, S4 and 335i, the reliability looks great!)
* Fuel economy is a tad low but similar to my 06 Corvette I was driving so no problem for me there.
I test drove probably 10 models including a Evo VIII and a EVO IX. While they are a blast to drive they would have been just a bit too much for the daily commute. There is definately a market for the X and as prices come down, it's an awesome option for someone like myself.

2010 after less then two years for the FIRST production year, the Evo X WON the Rally America Championship. It is more amazing if you think about , they were competing a same time with the same car in the Canadian rally championship too.
Makes it really interesting that fact , its a FIRST evo won the Championship is actually an Evo X.....
I think there is no more to say after this... LOL
