It doesnt help that overpriced the X. That bump of a few grand impacts the type of people that are able/want to buy the car. I see the same thing happening with the FT-86.

IMO, is real close to pricing the current Evo right out of the market. Bang for the buck or not....

I feel that I got my x for a good deal (below invoice for an 08, purchased in jan '10) but the sticker price was unbelieveable 34k. And that's for a gsr with no options. But the price on some of the '10s, especially the MR-t's, is unbelievable. I honestly wouldn't pay 36k+ for a car with our plasticky- interior.

I would trade my VIII for a X, but not for a IX. The X is not as fast stock, but it has more grip and is much nicer inside and better looking.

I would never trade a VIII for an X and I'd never trade my IX for an X. I'd trade NOTHING for an X. They are flat out fugly. Might as well be a honda accord. If you start worrying about the interior over performance, you are getting old. I care about two things, how the body looks and drivetrain. The rest I could give 2 $h*ts.

I care about the same thing my men.

I bet you're attractive, how's your drivetrain? That will seal the deal.

Seal. The. Deal.

yeah the drive train is definitely better on the X vs the VIII, in my experience.
The looks... its very personal taste. But in my opinion, more and more people like the X . In my experience , the X gets more attention then my VIII did.

IMHO

Plain and simple, Mitsubishi went the more refined route with the EVO to attract a more broad array of people. Simply put, Mitsubishi wanted more old people buying their Evo's. That pretty much sums it up. Funny already, how I see all X owners get defensive right away. Don't bish at me, Mitsu's the one who made your car fugly. Now keep in mind, this is all IMHO.

They wanted more people buying the car, not more "old" people. What are you, 12?

As for looks... come now. The 8s and 9s are far from attractive. The X is ugly, mind you, it's a big, fat, ugly moose of a car, but claiming an 8 or a 9 is at all, in any sense of the word, attractive, is a bit of a stretch.

And one for you:

You think younger people give two craps about the refinement of interior? Gimme a break.

Sounds like you haven't driven one - the X's an excellent car - drivetrain is great, motor i'm a liiiittle iffy on - otherwise it's great, and the s-ayc is amazing (still prefer mechanical though ) - X still has performance w/ it's interior.. though I say as long as you've got a dvd/nav it's pretty much moot. Exterior looks are completely subjective.

I just happen to prefer the IX

Do you think all younger people think exactly the way you do, in every single way?

Or are you willing to entertain the possibility that your way of life, your line of thinking, is perhaps not toeing the line with the way every other person of your generation thinks?

How old are you, anyways? I'm 23, I have an X, I have a broken VIII, I have an STI, and I have a WRX; I don't really "prefer" one over the other, but I'm simply curious as to how you can flatly state that. How about all of the guys driving Camaros, or Mustangs; what are they? REALLY odd, since they're going for displacement instead of turbocharging? How do they fit into the neat little world you've designed?

I've test driven one yes. And the thing felt like a tank compared to my IX. I never said the drivetrain wasn't great. All in all I love Mitsubishi's engineering. I truly think the X is just plain ugly. I like the front, but can't stand the funky looking rear end.
