Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
ohh hahaha - i just google searched '2003 lancer' and '2006 lancer' lolol.
all this said, i'm actually a fan of how the current evo looks - when it doesn't have that huge matching color lip thing. and i love the lancer sportback. if they had an evo MR sportback I'd be all over it

And we will celebrate

Some just for you from the not distant pass from the CT9A guys about the X from this thread only
" pulley1fan
Evo IX is the last Evo... the 'x' is just a lancer.."
"MrJdmJimi
I do not like the x . I do not like the interior with funny looking recaro's .. i do not like dual exhaust on a 4cyl ..Reminds me of a srt4 ..
I do not like how it looks exactly like a normal lancer .. "
"sonicnofadz:
Just in case you didn't already know, the new motor is made out of aluminum, so the answer is no it won't be more capable than the 4G63. It might be lighter, and produce more power in stock form, however its overal potential for modification will be **** poor compared to the muscular cast iron 4G63. "
" dannykao
Definitely keep my EVO IX. EVO X looks interesting but too much like a Volvo to me."
" Noize
Not just no, but HAYELL NO!
SMG and aluminum block for the lose!"
/Sorry Noize
LOL /" 93turbomax
No way would i get rid of my IX for a Dodge Caliber based vehicle!"
"atombomb33
After the "mom-mobile" article, any true car enthusiast still considering the X should be taken out back and shot."
and more and more

also, anyone knocking the aluminum block has just plain been proven wrong
Hey, I still don't like the SST, and I am still iffy on the engine as the last few pages will show, so at least I'm consistent. Err, other than the hayell no part since I've bought two. B-b-b-busted. Nice find.It paints poor Adam in a bad light too! HAHA!
Rob, you friggin' punk!

I couldn't resist...
Even when i know this will hunt me for a long time
Also i knew you will love this quote!
A little humor never hurt .
lol no one says the looks of the car means the car is worse - anyone knocking the performance based on the looks is just silly. they're just expressing their disapproval of the look, which is fine. how many people talk about how ugly the STI is? the fact that it's not as good is a coincidence.

And, I still stand by it to be honest. I did buy the X, so I should take myself out back and shoot myself. But, the only reason I stand by that statement is because after owning both a IX and a X, I have to say that I liked the IX better
CT9A and old lancer looks different because old Evo is based on Mitsubishi Cedia.
Just slap a wing on cedia and here you go mitsu evo.
Oh ... headlights shape is identical between old evo and cedia.

you're letting the orange paint and rest of the body fool your eyes. the headlights are exactly the same as the usdm lancer from 2002 and NOT the same as the evo 7-9 headlights
::not that i would really mind if they were lol - just saying they're not

I'm sorry guys i couldn't resist. I find it funny. without any offense

it's interesting to read the first two pages.. then the last two pages.
i seriously doubt i'd EVER get rid of my IX. it's the best car i've ever owned. without getting a MUCH better paying job, this is the best car i can get my hands on.
oh. and it's paid off.
oh. and it's gonna be modded just the way i like.
no reason to ditch it. especially for a X.
the X is cool. just not quite my style.

As readers of this epic thread may remember, after I bought my X MR, I was interested in what an earlier Evo was like. So, I went and drove a couple of VIIIs, and wasn't very impressed.
But, I just couldn't get the idea of older Evos out of my head. I read all of the old reviews, bought every Evo book I can find (there's really only two--go search Amazon), read the 4G63t engine book over and over again. I occasionally see VIIIs and IXs at the track, and always ogle them.
A few months ago, a local BMW dealership had a low mile IX MR. I took it for a test drive. After that, I couldn't get the IX out of my mind. The day I decided to buy it, I called the dealership and they said it was sold that morning.
Since then, I've been on the lookout for a nice low-mileage stock IX. I posted a WTB thread. Considered flying out to look at a couple, but never did.
Out of the blue, I get an e-mail from a guy who I had met over a year ago at the track with a GG IX MR SE, wondering if I'm interested. Long story short, we just came to a deal yesterday. Truly bone stock, never modified. 17K miles. Late-production MR (an "SE", but on the MR they call it the "appearance package"). Only tracked twice, and always meticulously maintained.
We should be closing the deal in the next couple of days. I'm very excited. I will now have the best of both worlds... an IX and an X. Now I just need to decide which will be the track car. (yes, I know all about the VIII/IX MR 6-speed failures)
Of course, a nice stock unmolested IX MR is quite rare these days, and turning that car into a track car would kill its value (and take another IX MR off of the road). Maybe I'll just drive it sparingly around town...
Pictures soon.
Oh, finally, for those of you who may ask "why another Evo"? Well, if you're reading this thread, you can probably understand. I was considering something totally different, like a Boxster, but I'm not that excited about German car maintenance after my E36 M3. Wife wouldn't let me buy a Vette (C5 Z06 is what I was thinking). Honestly, I'm just obsessed with the concept of the Evo, and we all understand how "different" the IX and X are, right?
(my wife doesn't...)
