lol not this again. but it is true the lancer and evo of this gen are more physically similar on the outside than the older cars. heads, tails look exactly alike, front end is similar etc. hell the new outlander looks like the lancer/evo now

why does this even matter? evo guys always get wound up about their econo car roots but that's the car it's based off of...

I don't like the new body of the EVO. Which was my reason for buying an Evo VIII and not the Evo X.

I could see if people say the 03 lancer and evo look the same.. but the 06 lancer and evo don't even have the same headlight shape! Look at the bottom two pics for Robs - Same headlights, same overall trapezoid, same headlights - but here:

And when you start moving to the GTS and Ralliart trims, the 08s get closer and closer in appearance. I guarantee you if we took a random poll of people who AREN'T car people they would say 08s look more similar. The heads and tails are the exact same shape for God's sake!

Either way, it's what the car is based off of.. I'm just stunned people can actually claim an 06 lancer looks like an 06 evo more so than for 08s. Closest shot is from behind since they have same shape taillights, way off on the front though.

The base lancer got made much better then ANY previous one, and got closer to the EVo.

by the way ANY evolution was and still build on the Lancer platform .That is true vs the previous once , this time they got a same lights too. Which is awesome, it makes my lights much easier to replace and so.

 

the improvements of the lancer overall as a car aren't related to the visual similarity between the lancer and its flagship, lol. It's a coincidence that the lancer IS better and LOOKS more like an Evo. Is that what you're arguing?

Likewise how good the Evo is has nothing to do with how similar it looks to the lancer.. yet somehow evo x people seem offended/threatened anyway... but the lancer is what the car is based off of.

This all started when people said 'yea the car is good but it still looks more like the lancer.' so what? but then evo X people said 'yea, and the old lancer didn't look like the old evo?' well no, not as much as the current gens. now you're saying 'well fine, but that's because the lancer is better.' yes it is, but that's not WHY it looks like the evo looks.. that's just what the car is based off.. so again, = so what?? So what the the current lancer looks like the X???

im saying it, because people bring it up as a negative of the evo. Which is isnt.
Other wise why we even would talk about Lancer in the Evo forum. Also only the lights are the add ons for the previus evo vs lancer look, Everything else has a same difference. Also it supposd to look as a lancer since it is a Lancer Evolution... Since Lancer Evolution 1... Before didnt lookd like it , it was a Galant VR4.
Also it does related the improvment for the looks too. These new Lancer are night and day difference vs the old ones even on looks too.

Also you and most people acting like they dont know EVERY evo is BASEd on the lancer and parts are /body/ interchangeable.

Nobody said that it's a negative. People said "i dont like the new evo, it looks too much like the lancer." nothign about saying the evo is worse because it looks like the lancer. anything more interpreted from that comment is emotion. No one said it's not supposed to look like the Evo, it's what the Evo's based off of.

My example dialogue is exactly how it went. X guys got offended and said "well the old Evo looks like the old Lancer as much as the new Lancer looks like the X." That's when anyone with clear perception is going to say "no, not as much." Obviously you're taking the defensive on this matter. No one ever said that it was bad that the car looks like the car it's based off of. No one is acting like the X is the first car based on the lancer. Is it the most similar looking Evo to the Lancer in the US market? Yes. Is that bad? Not at all. If you WEREN'T offended, the first thing you would have said was "yea, but so what?" Instead people went off about how the old Lancer looked just as much like the Evo as the new one does, which you were proven wrong. Now you're finally saying, yea well it doesn't matter anyway, which is what I was saying all along. Yes, it looks similar to the Lancer. No, it's not a reflection of the car's performance, nor did anyone imply it was. jeez

That silver RA you picked didn't look like the 2006 Evo, but the old OZ Rally was a dead ringer except for the small wheels and slightly different front.

all this said, i'm actually a fan of how the current evo looks - when it doesn't have that huge matching color lip thing. and i love the lancer sportback. if they had an evo MR sportback I'd be all over it
