Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
274whp. Already done. Meth helped my car a LOT. It's not necessarily going to be that effective on other cars (because every car is different) even on the X. So I got ~50whp increase with the mods on pump gas, but a LARGE (~75whp) increase with Meth. It seems like the X is the other way around.. not totally proven yet, but that's what it looks like.

I know my numbers are with Meth. We are looking at the END result. Full bolt-ons and everything. How much MORE whp do you think the X would have over a very well put together setup VIII/IX? It's called the law of diminishing returns (you even said it yourself in another thread).
The X has a smaller turbo, no **** its probably going to make less horsepower. Put the same size turbo on the X and on the IX with the same bolt on mods and then do a dyno and go from there. That would be the best comparison because right now its an apples to oranges comparison. The mechanical efficiency of the X isnt so great in my mind that its going to entirely make up for the larger turbo on the IX.
The true test would be how much can the X make on the stock block (with NO engine modifications) compared with the 4G63. Period. This will ultimately tell ME which engine has the more power potential.
If an aluminum engine open deck motor not even made for boost can handle over 500whp (f20c) I dont see why this one made by mitsubishi semi closed intended for boost wont be able to. Guess we will see.

Man I just read this whole thread I hate to break it to you VII-IX owners (I have three lol) but the last "REAL EVO" was the tommi 6.5...(last mitsu to win at the WRC level) following your logic everything after it is a loser!
Look I make my living making cars corner faster and handle better and the new X chassis is SUPERIOR PERIOD. Once they get the motor mods on line I'm predicting equal hp X's will be faster around the racetrack (the ones with corners lol) even caring a few more lbs...

to win at WRC level that is correct but in terms of homologation for racing, the IX still is included there

Is it really?
When hearing the term Evo I immediately think of a 4G63, the heart of the beast from the beginning. That heart has stayed true and kept beating through nine generations, getting better and better all the time. Advancements surrounding it have turned a simple Lancer into nearly supercar status. The car has always had that underlying feeling of raw energy, like a well of power just waiting to be tapped. And when opened up, it devours the road with a ferocious appetite. That's an Evo.
The 2008 Lancer Evolution still goes fast, but now it's quieter. Now it's more comfortable. And now, even someone that's never driven a standard can get behind the wheel and go. Keep your fancy interior, your sleeker body (ironically with a bucktooth front end), your optional nav systems/stereos/lights, and most of all, keep the 4B.
At least my car has heart

It had taking many year just to perfect the 4G63. it has takin some odd years to make 1000hp out of the 4g63. mitsubishi has design a great motor. the 4g63 has made its mark on the automotive industry and will be one of the greatest for years to come! the 4g63 is basicaly at its peak. its time to move on to make someting else. why not use the enginnering skill and make a new motor. Its all part of markeing, research and design and intergration. why stick with one good thing when you can make two good things?
Honestly stop bring up the "its not a true evo thing" its a stupid comment.
This is the reason why I hate fanboys... the insults! Not only are they dismissing1-2 year old cars, but they act like the X is God's gift to car enthusiasts! I can bet you a dollar to a dime NOONE will track that car bone stock and post the results!
Put the "extremely friendly to mods (85+whp increase)" car on the dragstrip. The trap speeds will indicate the power that car is REALLY putting down!!

Honestly no one really cares about posting stock 1/4 results. let the magazine do the stock test. And give it a break. the car just came out. i am pretty sure people have more better things to do than to run it on the boring drag strip. Its a brand new car, i would not take it to a track and beat on it all day. you want a drag car buy a mustang they are great in the 1/4 mile.
Haha. When you think evo. do you think of talons too? Eclipse? colts? they all had 4g63 at one point. A mitsubishi Evolution is a mitsubishi evolution. just becasue they change the motor does not mean its not an evo any more.

It sux - but it's life. So let the pro-4g63 owners have their limelight. It will eventually fade away..
Talk about fanboyism. the only fanboy i see is you and your evo8/9. you think that your car is like a gift from God. By all means you have a nice car. But you tend to mention "fanboy" about the evo X yet you fail to mention your self as a fanboy!
