;-)
i was compere to the IX jdm vs IX usdm. so the IX jdm is suppost to be faster then the USDM.
here is the slower usdm IX vs X. comparision on Reno-Fernley Raceway.
but chek this out.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...test_data.html
2.78-mile road course lap the X : 2:36.046 sec
the IX: 2:34.558 sec
so its looks like 1,7 sec faster then the X.

i dont know i just got this test today. I'm still reading it.
i was just refering to the IX usdm vs JDM difference. That is why i said the 1 sec penalty, wich is understandable . The S-ayc is suppos to be better then the AYC in the VI. So the IX JDM can be faster 1 sec over the USDM on long track like that.

I guess you're conveniently ignoring the fact that the times were generated using a pre-production Evo X that had a few issues... and besides, the advantage/disadvantage between the X/IX will vary depending on the track anyways. Let's just wait and see what the X's do in the upcoming season...

I drive an Evo 8 GSR 2003.......and I love the Evo X ( wish I could afford one), and I really don't understand why some people what quarter mile times in stock trim from? Everybody modifies their cars to preform better than stock right after the breaking in period..... Sooooooo who cares about stock times; cars ( whatever that car would be....) suck in stock form ( Evo's 1-10 )....... its fun to modified. And me personally think drag racing is boring ( just my opinion )........ over here in Florida drag racing owned for years, but recently drifting, Time Attack, and road racing are taking over. Drag racing is becoming a relic; a thing of the pass.
just my .02......
just my .02......
This is the reason why I hate fanboys... the insults! Not only are they dismissing1-2 year old cars, but they act like the X is God's gift to car enthusiasts! I can bet you a dollar to a dime NOONE will track that car bone stock and post the results!
Put the "extremely friendly to mods (85+whp increase)" car on the dragstrip. The trap speeds will indicate the power that car is REALLY putting down!!

LMAO!!!! I ventured in here a little late. Me.... a X fanboy???? I'm a X fanboy because I want to read advancements made on the new platform without sifting through your mindless garbage?? You continue to clutter threads even against the vendor's, moderator's, and fellow enthusiast's wishes. I own a IX with more power on pump than your VIII on meth. I wouldnt trade that car for anything in the world!! I was hellbent on adding a 335 to my collection but the Mrs. and I decided on an e90 M3. I guess my E-MANHOOD is bigger than yours now. Me a fanboy?? I'm a fanboy for caring about the uncluttered progression of a good thread? I dont want a X. I'll wait for the XI. Keep that "fanboy" BS to yourself.
The Evo 1-9 are the past. The X is the future. Deal with it. I have and have graciously accepted it. Thanks for playing.

First paragraph:
"Although we tried to get our hands on a topline Evo X MR, replete with a new Getrag six-speed dual-clutch "TC-SST" transmission, Bilstein dampers, Eibach springs, 18-inch forged BBS wheels, and two-piece front brake rotors, the timing of our test and vehicle availability meant we got dealt a preproduction, base GSR...
... A close illustration of a production example, our early-build GSR did suffer from one "handbuilt" niggle: an asthmatic engine that seemed to suffer respiratory attacks near redline..."

oh okey.
I saw some post from AMS and AGP /if i remember right/ ,and they stated they still have the 5000 rpm bugging. They sad the car is so rich from factory it is choke itself .
so looks like it stayed with the production modell. But the X in stock is not so famous for the 1/4 mile anyway.

anyone care to comment on this? From the guys at Bishop Motorsports: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3668021
Given that and the impressive results from basic mods by AMS, is it safe to say that alot of the 'on paper' drawbacks aren't as bad as originally guessed (assuming one of us would stay stock anyway)
We've had our Evo X for about two weeks now. Put on close to 1000 miles already. A lot of it on the dyno. Today's tuning results were very positive. Simply put, the X has proven to be more tune-friendly than even the IX. While it makes a bit less power in stock configurations, it ends up making quite a bit more power when tuned both cars are tuned. All tuning was done with a modified version of our BMW PROcede v2 engine control computer that was re-coded to accept the new Mitsu-specific 36-3 trigger wheel and misc sensors.
In fact, today's results show that a tuned Evo X (with no additional bolt-on parts) makes as much power to the wheels as a tuned Evo IX with a full exhaust (dp+highflow cat+ cat-back). And that's just for starters. I'm sure the X will benefit from exhaust upgrades as well as additional tuning. Right now, peak boost is set to 23psi, tapering down to just 15psi by 7000rpm. There's a little bit still left in there.
