A strange dissertation on cars.
Holy crap! Check these girls out!!!
I think that Honda’s goose is cooked. I’m not a fan of the front wheel drive cars, and that’s pretty much all they’ve got… well O.K. the S2000, but that’s not worth the price… well O.K. the NSX, but that’s not worth the price either. Maybe the new turbo NSX will be worth it’s price, but maybe not… People are finally beginning to realize that rice is out, and true Japanese sports cars are in. People are also learning that the front wheel drive “sports” car is crap. You should either have RWD or AWD, in a sports car. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take a piece of crap Type-R over a RWD domestic ANY day, but still…
Toyota needs to go back to the drawing board too. Bring back a nice, cheap, N/A, RWD, 200+ hp, lightweight Corolla GT-S. You’ve got to bring something that has excellent value and performance. Not many cars can compete with the Rex’s, Evo’s, and Sti’s.
O.K. Mazda ****ed up too, they should have added some torque to their Renesis or at least a turbo for the love of GOD. Plus for what little power the thing has it should have been priced MUCH lower, like 5-7grand lower. Now the 350z has some ballz, and looks the part too, but it’ll still get its *** handed back by the AWD monsters, so once again I think it’s too expensive. Maybe the AWD cars aren’t expensive enough? If we can keep up with exotics, and toast a good bunch of them, maybe our cars should cost more? Hell no, make the other cars that can’t keep up, and pretend to be “sports cars” cheaper…
O.K. don’t start with me on the domestic cars, “oh but they have the Cobra”, "the neon is as fast as a stock Rex"…
Handling! Longevity! Refinement! Balance! Value! Not just horsepower for the straight line… Who cares if the Cobra Asstang can beat you in a straight line, take it to the mountain and watch it fall of the cliff as it tries to take an Apex on the 2nd corner.
Neon FWD.
Yes they have the Vette and the Viper… but they don’t have H.L.R.B.V.
Be proud of your AWD machine. Be proud that you chose a REAL Japanese sports car, be content in the fact that the sun is setting on the day of the rice…
Don’t wear stickers on your car. Don’t watch the fast and the furious, or any of its sequels, if you already have, try create some type of permanent memory loss for that portion of your brain.

ur definitely right bro... hell if u go to japan, the true race cars there for the most part are the evos and skylines and supras and yada yada. Honda has fallen behind, sure they have great power for FWD NA but they need to step up. As for the SRT-4, it's running on a mitsubishi turbo charger, thas y it's all fast =P
Heh. Nice way to get people to read. I'll bet you'll get flamed for it soon enough.
Honda sucks. I'm not saying that because I don't like Honda, some of my best cars were Accords. Honda is no longer an industry leader in automotives, at least not in my eyes.

Man, stock Cobra's handle better than stock WRX's... You realize Cobra's have IRS, unlike regular Mustangs, right? Or are you stuck on the old "It's a domestic so it must handle bad" thing?
It would take a lot of mods for a WRX to keep up with even a stock Cobra on a road course.

Umm, I am confused....what just happened?
Yeah, i agree that the "performance' FWD cars are about to meet their match. if you remember, Dodge designed their cab forward design around the FRD platform, and they ditched that too, although that was becaseu of crash worthiness. Cadillac also got rid of their FWD layout. They advantages of the early 90's with the FWD being touted as safer and better in bad weather is just outdated. Now cars have Anti-lock brkaes, traction Control, some have stability control, and so on. The one thing that FWD cars have going for them is that they are cheaper to manufacture, and so I think that there will always be a place for them in the xmall car market as well as in the very low priced car market. The day that Honda or toyota makes a RWd car wil not happen for many many years. It would require a complete restructuring of their designs, the platfor would have to be adopted for many different cars to be economically viable, and the development and research costs would be enormous. I think that the biggest truth is that turbocharges cars have just gotten mainstream, and that is where the growth lies. it ised to be VW/Audi, SAAB and a handful of others that had a turbocharger. Now there is Dodge, Subaru (in the states) Mitsubishi, Audi, VW, Volvo, and there is alot of supercharging going on with the domestic carsl, especially the Ford camp with their GT 40, the Cobra, SVT and Lightening. I think the days of huge engines with poor fuel economy is over (like the 5.7 liter) and the days of weak N/A four cylinders is over too. After all, who cares about VVT-i and VTEC and al the rest when the car next to you with the same sized engine has 100 more hp?

Does Japan get Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Vipers and any of the decent domestics we produce here? I dont think so, though I could be wrong. Of course, technology is cool and I wish american manu.'s would follow suit, but they haven't yet. Maybe the GTO by Pontiac will change things. Overall, I just find that they can keep their cars. I love my Evo.
