So any good magazine suggestions? I'm leaning towards a subscription to Grassroots Motorsports. I'm getting into track session this coming season. Be helpful if you give me reviews and reasons instead of lists.
My brief magazine evolution:
1. 8.2001 to 11.2001 Super Street: (aka: Rice by the bowl full)
Bad: Rice, Rice, Rice, I feel embarassed having it on my bookshelves, too Civic driven, rice ads on every page. Might use to light grill this summer.
Tech Articles: grade F
2. 5.2002 to 4.2003 Sport Compact Car: (aka: I'm ripping you off by shortening the mag. slightly every month)
Bad:Still too Honda driven, too many ads, laughable english language (at times)
Good: very helpful in tech articles, project cars, new car tests, sneak peaks, and feature cars, and overseas trips and tests. Recently (June2005) appears to have gotten far better than 2 years ago.
Tech Articles: grade B-
3. 1.2005-12.2005 Modified: (aka: Church of JDM)
Bad: JDM everything, if you're not JDM, you're not worth a damn. I don't need to have a $100 MOMO shift knob. Seems to be an arm of the aftermarket industry. Everything that they are given is gold. God forbid they do a cross test and comparison of tires, or Tein vs Zeal vs Cusco vs Megan coilovers. too much NOPI or IHRA coverage... (I'm not dissing the vendors on here that had their products or project cars featured..and yes I have read the AMS suspension articles)
Good: Lots of Evos and great ideas of mods for the car, lots of AWD, 99.9% rice-free. Drifting features, great import features.
Tech articles: On and off, mostly bad. the SR20DET swap series was laughable! wrote the nightmare wiring section in 7 words! However, the S14 5-spoke hub and brake conversion was pretty detailed. C-
4. 10.2005 to Current Road and Track: (aka: I sold my soul to ford)
Bad: Short. An arm of the automotive industry, every car from the 325CI to the Ferrari was made by the hands of god to them. Laughable racing and carshow coverage. Terrible and uninformative interviews. Sometimes dont get chance to drive the car they are reviewing!
Good: wide variety of cars, good european coverage...still undecided, but def won't renew.
Tech Articles: huh? where? never even read the word camber... F
So what are you guys reading? oh yeah, I dont' give a crap about audio. thanks.

^^ I feel car and driver = road and track.
I also dont' care much about pickup truck and minivan review. I do enjoy the magazine from time to time...when I need to read something at the airport or in the grocery store. But never worthy of purchase.

Road and Track
Motor Trend
Sport Rider
Road Racing World
Road Racer X
Guys, for all your mag subscriptions try www.magazines.com
I just found them tonight and there are some great deals there. Also, look at www.magsdirect.com They are cheaper on a few, but don't have the selection or overall good prices the first one has.
Everyone on my xmas list is getting magazine subscriptions haha

Trending Topics
www.magazines.com has Road & Track and Car & Driver for $17.98/yr combined.
Read AUTOMOBILE, AutoWeek, SCCA mag, and Automotive Engineering. Automobile has good witty writing that isn't dumbed down to 6th grade level. AutoWeek because I have to stay up with the news. SCCA because it comes with my membership. Automotive Engineering because that is what I do.
i subscribe to scc and it seems that every mag is getting thinner and thinner - lotsa ads; definitely a ghost of what it was 5yrs ago, but good tech articles (i wonder what they're doing to their project evo mr? have yet to see an article of it!)
just got a subscription to road 'n track for 8bucks a year...gonna see how that is...
car and driver nice overall mag for all autos
super street sucks ***

I need to change modified, Im sick of them always focusing on jdm cars. They only mention evo in like every 4 months.I never get to read the damn magazine every month, because of that...

^^don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with JDM. I love JDM...but everyone in Modified has Volks or Advans!!! I think I've seen Prodrive, Wedsport, RHs only once in a year of subcription.
I'd much rather spend the money on a good set of R compounds and light cast racing wheels if they could just bite the bullet and do a comparison test.
