Extreme cockyness, total disregard of values
not to be a dick or anything, but the chevy dealerships are selling the z06 because they know about godzilla being overpriced. they know that if they can sell them at msrp while the R is getting marked up like crazy, everyone waiting on the R will eventually just go buy a z06.
and they know how many people want an R, so why not try to sell as many z06's as possible. the more they sell, the better, right?
but if i had the money right now, i'd still wait for an R instead of getting a z06 but thats just personal preference.

Hey Carlos
I can hear you on being a little upset on how the Nissan dealer treated your friend but a lot of dealers are sleazy anyway, doesn't matter what brand you get, theres the good and the bad.
As you know I'm one of the rare ones that got in VERY EARLY on the GT-R and solidified a signed notarized MSRP deal almost 2 years ago. My car will be here in about 10 days and I'm going to sell it ASAP for as much as I can get for it. It is not often you get a chance to flip a car and pick up $20k+. I was going to keep it but I don't have the desire to own it..don't know why but like the song goes " the thrill is gone" It really isn't about the money but I have been missing my AMS built Evo that was stolen 13 weeks ago and I want another drag car so I have had my eye on building a TT Viper with UGR or Heffner...something different.
I have most bolt -on mods on my 07 Z06 and it is a beast for sure but like the GT-R it is not a great drag platform. Better track car for sure. It isn't bad and it can be a mid 10 sec car with just a few mods but taking it beyond that is not worth it to me when the Viper is a much better platform for the drag strip.
I agree with you on the Z06 being a great performance bargain. I also feel the Evo 8 & 9 are as well but the GT-R has been launched with MEGA HYPE like I have never seen before in a car. So much love and so much hate is being thrown at this car from all car enthusiasts everywhere as it seems to defy the laws of physics but with mystery and speculation connected to it. That is why it is commanding so much over sticker and the dealers know it. In fact after my deal every other person that is on the list is paying $15k over MSRP for their cars and they are all sold for 09 & 2010 so it is what it is. I for one think the car is for real but and I say but I also think the maintenance and upkeep on the car will be very very high and if people start buying the GT-R with the intention of drag racing the car on the street or track...well **** is gonna break for sure and it will be double what a Evo or Vette will cost to repair, and I'll guarantee you can take that info to the bank.
One thing I'll add is I wish GM would loose the crappy GY run flats or at least offer some other tire options on the Z06 so the car will be properly represented in all these mag tests. It needs some R comps and it becomes a whole different handling car. It would be much higher up on the list in these tests for sure.
BTW when the hell are you going to put some mods on that Z? Wake that puppy up

^^ Speaking of the devil.. how are you Frank? nice to hear from you. I read everything you said and yes, it is what it is. The mark up prices are just the tip of the iceberg on the GTR, I predict it will cost mega money to maintain and it will get hard to get parts, not to mention how much they will charge for simple bolt ons.
Two local friend and Evo owners are now with their eye sight on the Z06 after being turned down by the mark ups on the GTR.
As far is my Z, I am right now just deciding if I am going to get the Cam,ported intake and throtle body or just the Vortech V3 S/C or ATI procharger at 4.5psi.
I found an excellent deal for the entire S/C for low $5000 and also local install. Whenever is the time, I will do the fantastic Nitto Invos 345-30-19 which are priced at an astonishing cheap $330 price tag, that should bring the 60' to a steady sub 2.0 60'
I will PM you the name of my friends currently looking for the GTR. By the way, sorry to hear about your Evo, I did not even know but if you have pictures it will help, I am sure someone hear or seen something.

dang, how did your evo get stolen?
Here are some facts, Tucson's Jim click Nissan dealer finally gets a GTR on display. The news spreads through all the local forums and off course people start calling.
A good friend of mine and member of this forum makes them(the dealer) a cash offer to buy two of them at MSRP. Wait a minute, I said two GTRs not one... the dealer respond that they are not interested.
They wouldn't even set up a negotiation stage. That is cockyness and arrogance in my book. On the same note I informed my friend that he can get a brand new 08 Corvette Z06 for invoice ($64000 and change). He checked my sources and off course it is true, he seen the prices and confirmed the3 smoking deals(www.corvetteconti.com).
What is wrong with this picture guys?, here we have 2 cars priced from the manufacturer at a dang identical MSRP price($71k on the GTR and $72K on the Z06), real world sales shows otherwise. On the GTR you have to pay a non sense mark up while on the Chevrolet you can get them at invoice without even have to sit and negotiate.
I am not supportive with the GTR issue, I think everyone is getting ripped, I said it before and I said again, the GTR is not a competitive car for its real price range.
People needs to diviate from buying the GTR because for that price you can have other nice cars like a Viper, Z06 or Porsche GT3 or even the new ZR1.
I was once after a GTR, had some cash for a deposit but got disgusted at the dealers nasty, venenous, disturbing and illicit sales strategy. It makes me want to go and call the busines bureau and get all these thieves taken care of. all of them

I appreciate your position and the fact that you want to sell your GTR for as much as possible, but please quit adding to the hype. All the 2009 and 2010 GTR's have not been sold. As of 3-4 weeks ago, 30% were still available in the US. One of my local dealerships has at least two still unspoken for. You can find about 10 available from dealerships on Autotrader and a few more on Ebay. Bill Hood Nissan out of Louisiana even posted on the GTR forums that they had a premium available and were going to sell it for 5K over MSRP. Stop, stop, STOP adding to the hype so that you can sell your GTR for as much as possible. By the way, the total allotment for the USA for this year was increased from 1500 to 2400 about a month ago. Check out WorldCarFans or some other magazines for that info. But, yes, the dealerships are still going to try to gouge you for all that they can. If you want to buy one now for as little as possible, call around. You can probably get deals like 5K over if you search enough.

If you look on autotrader there is a dealer selling 1 for $76K. Give it some time. By the end of this year you will get 1 for MSRP ... Just like Evo when it first came out ..
good luck

First of all I'm not adding to the hype when I said all the GT-R's where sold for $15k over MSRP for 2009 and 2010! If you read carefully you would have noticed that " I SAID AT MY DEALER.
Yes I will try and get as much as possible for the car wouldn't you?
Good luck trying to find one at MSRP. There may be a few isolated dealers here and there that will sell one at $5k over but I'l bet that is not the norm. I'm on the NAGTROC form a lot also so I know what dealers are getting.
BTW are you buying one?
Sorry I misunderstood your statements. And yes, I would try to get everything I could if I had one I was selling. I was wondering what Nissan's stand was on the warranty of cars that are flipped? I had heard rumors that they would either void the warranty or shorten the warranty if a car was flipped. I heard it was part of a plan to prevent price gouging after the initial sale. I wish they could prevent price gouging by dealerships.
I'm not on the list to buy this year. I wouldn't be able to handle the purchase this year anyway. I sold my Supra and my Evo and bought the RX8 to save money until next year. Hopefully they will be at MSRP or less by then. But, while I've been waiting, I have been looking into my other options. The Z06 is a great bargain for the prices you see it for on Ebay lately (5-8K under MSRP). I was considering the M3 but I have decided the extra luxury is not worth the decrease in performance over my other options. I have been looking at used 996 Porsche Turbos, GT3s and GT2s. Its also possible that the 997 GT3s may dip below 100k used by next year (seen them for 106K). But I wonder if Porsche fit and finish is worth buying used at the same price or more than other new cars on my list. And I used to think of Vipers as just great straight line performance vehicles. But that latest Road and Track comparison has me looking very seriously at the ACR. It was barely beat out by the Gallardo at more than twice the price. It actually won two of the track competitions and was near the top on the other two. I know that the Viper is harder to live with on a day to day basis, but it would not be a daily driver and I always thought that they were beautiful cars.

Yeah the ACR is an awesome track car right from the factory. I have a friend that just ordered his and he is a very good driver. He looked at a lot of options as far as other cars and it came down to the ACR or the Porsche GT2 but he went with the Viper and money was no object in his decision. He also is taking delivery of his GT-R but has decided to sell his spot to someone else. He paid $10k over MSRP and he just lost interest in the GT-R. Doesn't want all the attention on the streets. I know some of the guys that already got theirs say they can't go anywhere without a parade of onlookers and and people who bombard them with questions.
BTW that was a rumor on the warranty issue. If I sold you the car the warranty is transferred to you.
You sound like you know what you want in a car so I say save up and go for it. You only live once so enjoy whatever makes you happy.
The car was taken on a main street when I was in a bar/restaurant. Police screwed up big time because they never put the stolen report in for 3/12 days. They said it was a glitch in their computer system
It has been gone over 12 weeks and the insurance company already made the settlement with me. Thank god AMS told me to get mod insurance when we did the build with them or I would have lost a ton of $$ as it turned out I didn't loose to much $$. The insurance company and the agent I had really went all out to take care of me. I give them To bad the car was only a week away from going back to AMS for a 42R upgrade and some serious weight reduction. I miss the car a lot and all the people we got to know through the AMS, the shootouts etc. Oh well sh** happens I guess. My car is probably in Russia by now.
Thanks for asking.

To bad the car was only a week away from going back to AMS for a 42R upgrade and some serious weight reduction. I miss the car a lot and all the people we got to know through the AMS, the shootouts etc. Oh well sh** happens I guess. My car is probably in Russia by now.
Thanks for asking.

It has been gone over 12 weeks and the insurance company already made the settlement with me. Thank god AMS told me to get mod insurance when we did the build with them or I would have lost a ton of $$ as it turned out I didn't loose to much $$. As much as I hate dealers, Iam waiting for sure until I can get 1 for MSRP. Vette will never look so good, no matter how much more powerful it may be..... Hang in there Q!!!
