Extreme cockyness, total disregard of values
Here are some facts, Tucson's Jim click Nissan dealer finally gets a GTR on display. The news spreads through all the local forums and off course people start calling.
A good friend of mine and member of this forum makes them(the dealer) a cash offer to buy two of them at MSRP. Wait a minute, I said two GTRs not one... the dealer respond that they are not interested.
They wouldn't even set up a negotiation stage. That is cockyness and arrogance in my book. On the same note I informed my friend that he can get a brand new 08 Corvette Z06 for invoice ($64000 and change). He checked my sources and off course it is true, he seen the prices and confirmed the3 smoking deals(www.corvetteconti.com).
What is wrong with this picture guys?, here we have 2 cars priced from the manufacturer at a dang identical MSRP price($71k on the GTR and $72K on the Z06), real world sales shows otherwise. On the GTR you have to pay a non sense mark up while on the Chevrolet you can get them at invoice without even have to sit and negotiate.
I am not supportive with the GTR issue, I think everyone is getting ripped, I said it before and I said again, the GTR is not a competitive car for its real price range.
People needs to diviate from buying the GTR because for that price you can have other nice cars like a Viper, Z06 or Porsche GT3 or even the new ZR1.
I was once after a GTR, had some cash for a deposit but got disgusted at the dealers nasty, venenous, disturbing and illicit sales strategy. It makes me want to go and call the busines bureau and get all these thieves taken care of. all of them

My best friends dad is General Manager over the Nissan dealership down here. You do realize they have to spend $25,000 just to buy in and be able to sell the GTR right? That is why just about NO dealerships will be selling them at sticker. That and i use to sell cars, they dont want your cash they want you to get a loan. They make more money that way!!!
^^I totally understand some of the things, no denial that this car has a high demand but even at MSRP they are still making their great profit.
Porsche has nearly $10000 differnces between MSRP and invoice in some models, other cars of that price range like Z06 has a $8000 "negotiation" gap.
How would you feel if you are a great customer with the moeny to spend(over $150k cash) and gets turned down. I am personally a little upset, it just don't add up. Botton line, this car's EGO has been ridiculous among the Nissan dealers. I am about to put some nasty mods on my vette along with some fat tires and I never look back after I got my Z06 for what I paid.
I am sure many people prefer the GTR because of its undeniable performance but if you are well informed like me a GTR is not longer competitive the way they sell them. The Z06 on its price range will continue to sell in much larger numbers.
I am sorry but I'd take a 08 vette for $67k out of the door and have $10000-$30000 spare for mods or whatever, good luck getting a GTR for a reasonable price. As you can see they are in two different leagues, the GTR hardly sells and the Z06 sells very well.

Nothing to do with value, or cockyness...
Supply<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Demand
Again I cannot do the < thing enough to explain it in this case, but you already knew this
Carlos I agree, but, in the end a $ is a $ no matter how you count it.

Look at the markup mitsu tried to pull on the new x's. They tried to tell me they are selling them for like 42k here. I laughed, knowing some dumbass would really pay that. Those are the ppl the dealers target. Its a fact to live with and with todays economy, thats kind of how its gotta b.
Ohh i understand and would be upset too!!!
I just called him to confirm the buy in and i was right. $25,000 But also on top of that they had to send all their techs to get certified. Had to put them up in rooms for a week, pay for food, and pay their time pay. Price will drop some after they get some of their money back from the 1st shipment. Theirs is suppose to be here next week. Both of us will be there when it comes in for the 1st look.

Yeah, I know but I honestly think this is just turning down many many customers away. People now look at Porsche GT3, Audis R8, Vipers, Z06 , wouldn't you?
This demand-Supply is going to diminish the GTR's stellar original performance value(now non existent)

At the end, the Evo X situation doesn't even compare to this GTR"phenomenon", Mitsubishi will negotiate but Nissan dealers are all accross the board mind close on the selling price.

The GTR pisses on all of those cars in almost any sort of quantifiable measure, whilst being so much more real of a streetcar it is almost unfair.....wait it is!!!
The GTR is faster around the 'Ring than the MclarenF1.
again
THE GTR IS FASTER AROUND THE MOST MANNEST OF ALL RACE TRACKS IN THE WORLD THAN this car, right here ->

You would have a really tough time convincing gordon murray, the dude that for the most part single handedly designed the F1 into thinking that the GTR is faster, but he helped design it

The GTR is real. People YOU KNOW can buy one
You CAN drive it to the supermarket EVERYDAY.You can put your kids in the back and not feel like your risking there lives, none of the other cars that compete with this in anyway can do that.

Even though the markup on GTR's may be crazy, the sad truth is there are many potential buyers out there with more money than sense. Dealers know someone will eventually come along and pay them what they want.
Looking at it from the dealers perspective, why would they let the car go for MSRP knowing the buyer could turn around and resell for a profit...profit that could be the dealers if they just hold out.
As with any hot new product in short supply, you gotta pay to play.

Also Carlos you have to remember that when you got the Z-oh it had already been out for a while, between the amount of demand and supply of GTR's coming/already sold, again the demand is going to be SOOOO high for such few cars that its dumb to sell them for MSRP.
In a year we will know the cars *true market worth. (I think will be damn near the price of a new one or maybe still more till supply comes close to demand which is very very far off

Carlos, the Z06 was marked up too when it first came out. Now the car is old and you can get them 'cheap'. Heck, the first Shelby GT500s went for tens of thousands over sticker and that car is a fat pig.
Hell, look at the iPhone. How many people lined up outside the door for hours (or a day) to spend $600 on a phone that was sold for like $400 two months later. There were scores of people paying 1-2 grand for ****in Xboxs and PS3s on Ebay when they first came out.
This situation is nothing new, you're making a big deal about nothing.

Hype is a strange thing... When the excitement wears off and the world becomes aware of the fact that its only a nissan, a brilliantly performing nissan, but still a nissan none the less, the prices will reflect it. this process of the price coming back down to earth will not happen till the next big thing comes out... Everyone knows how supply and demand works but at the same time no one likes to treated like your inferior or unworthy like it sounds like the dealerships that have the gtr's continue to act.

Oh and not to start and argument considering i will never own either of them but the gtr may be faster than the F1 around the ring but at the end of the day it's still a mclaren F1...
