Perhaps the worst bang for your buck
Mustang GT's are the best bang for the buck in the Mustang world. The Shelby GT's add very little for a significant amount of $$$$. The GT500's add quite a bit for quite a bit more $$$$, but a regular GT with the same amount extra dropped into it can become a much better performance car than the GT500. The GT500KR is for those that want to say they own the baddest stock Mustang made today. These people have the disposable income to buy it and not put very many miles on it.
Mustangs have always been a great economy car for those that want to mod it themselves. I spoke with a guy in an 04 Cobra at a stop light once. His car sounded mean. I asked what he had done to it and he said he had an intake, exhaust, headers, cams, and a tune and was putting 580 to the rear wheels. He said that he had less than 10K in parts and labor. I imagine that he could have picked up the car for 20-25K at the time. Talk about bang for the buck. If you are buying for performance and don't care aboout warranty, don't buy the premade performance stangs. Do it yourself.

What I meant was you have to know the Evo and what it can do to appreciate it. If you hadn't read somewhere or seen a video clip of the car you sure wouldn't buy it for its looks for the price. It's made for those few people who love it. Its not a car for the masses like the Mustang is.
slalom 65 mph hahahahahahahah omg
why do ford/dodge and all the other american companies do this. if only they would make these cars smaller/lighter from the factory with an easily upgraded suspension. all they would have to do is have a contract with bilstien and a spring manufacture and these would be soooooooooo much better. i'd take a gtr 35 anyday over this for that cash but still they could do so much better

Botton line, yes, you are absolutely correct in all what you said, if Dodge and Ford were to actually produce a lighter car it would be a great sucess but the consequences of the extra weight ends with poor slalom speeds, mediocre stopping distance, bad gas mileage, etc.

What other <$45k cars with 500hp are lighter than the GT500? I can't think of any. Heck, the EVO is now 3600 lbs so its no light weight. Also, on a road course, I can't think of too many <$45k cars that would be faster than the GT500.
82k...yeah just in markup lol
The regular gt500 is not so bad of a deal given the deep deep discounting you can get just to take them off the lot, then de-nerf it and throw a better set of springs and tires at it. I actually like how it looks, though visibility is bad and the tranny feels worse than my evo lol. I talked a salesman into pulling off the rims and some of the other junk (swap in regular seats, stereo etc.) to give me a better price (since I was going to remove it anyways) but the GM nixed it lol
