Honestly bro, if you don't know what a head gasket is, or where it is... take it to a "professional" mechanic. Seems you don't know that much about the mechanics etc. of a car so it wouldn't be a good idea to mess with your cuz's car. Not knowing what you are doing can make things worse.
Its a cheap fix...dont drive it with the head gasket blown... The white exhaust is coolant burning in your engine, it could overheat and warp parts in your engine. Take it to a mechanic...they take the belts off, drain coolant, put the head to top dead center and replace the gasket...and while their in there they will see if any damage has been done...
Did you guys cook the motor at all? If it overheated, then that's bad... If you guys didn't overheat the engine and you're just going to replace the head gasket, it'll probably take a couple of guys who are decent at reading manual and wrenching one full afternoon (maybe the evening) to complete the job.
Go on a Jeep board and look for instructions, those off roading guys are hardcore I am sure they can be much more of a help than us. Remember: read! You don't wanna miss little things like not replacing your head bolts or not torqueing them properly... Some of those things are not as simple as they seem. Head bolts are weird, I am sure our resident mechanics can tell you all about them.
