what you guys think about the genesis
This looks to be another Ralliart vs. Evo type thread and/or threads in the makings. This car will more than likely be a ralliart in a different body. Mitsu wouldn't allow them to make such a car for that much cheaper to be tuned to evo power, no one would buy the evo then. Not to mention the genesis looks to only make 215 crankHP, no where near the evo's. It will be just like trying to upgrade a wrx to STI, not going to work.
I am inclined to side with STI2EVOx on this one, sorry JROD, I am still going to buy your evoX products though

Some may not see the potential of the car and thats fine. Im not wanting to turn the coupe into the X or even my old Evo 8..... Im wanting to surpass them. It will take some time but where there is a will there IS a way.
how much will it weight in?? if its very light then it might have a chance to become something big!
if the Koreans can make a inexpensive RWD car then why cant toyota and honda make a mid performer too!? afterall toyota need a sport car badly! all they sell are soccer-mom vas, trucks, and rice cubes. and honda keeps holding on the the civic si like it was the holly grail... i wouldnt be surprise if this new toy will mess with honda's civic si sales... but these r all just my opinions

Nothing to apologize for. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

So basically I would say if you are planning on going extremely crazy, 500whp, maybe 600whp-1000whp area, sure the genesis will be great assuming it will make that much (i am sure you will find a way). But for making the average 350whp to 450whp that 90 percent of the people will shoot for, the Evo will be a much better route.

However they are going to be offering a "stripped" down track model as well.
I agree that you will be able to make this a great car, however I was aiming more at this being a better buy for the average person or tuner. You will not see an advantage to getting this over the evo for a regular person, because you will need to upgrade so much stuff to get to evo status. However, in your case you are going to be changing EVERYTHING regardless I assume so better to start with a cheaper base car, not to mention RWD will be better for the strip with the less weight and less drivetrain loss.

For the "normal Joe" I think alot of people like the practicality of the Evo as it can actually be USED. Take the family out, run to the store, etc... I feel the coupe will appeal to a "younger" crowd of sorts without a family (like Myself) or someone who wants a "toy" to track or do whatever with but wanting a fun RWD 4cyl turbo application.
I think the Coupe is going to turn alot of heads and get people's attention. Peter Tarack from Modified Magazine even talked about that in the new issue.

As for Honda, we all know there's the s2000 ( i know you said mid performer and the s2k is both a roadster and more expensive but at least it's a a rwd honda)

i've heard that the next Tiburon might sport the RWD/V8 setup of the Genesis. if thats true, the lighter weight of the Tiburon would help make this platform competitive. or maybe a Genesis two-door is in the works? either way, as long as its lighter than the 4-door Genesis with the same motor.

Yea or at least I'm pretty sure that's what they've been saying. Who knows maybe the current model Tiburon will still hang around for a little longer.
Whatever it's name is, it's a brand new car, separate from what the old Tiburon is
