Oh well there you have it the GIANT chrome H on the back (along with the other fairly large chrome lettering) and the ugly *** chrome grill in the front kill it for me. Epic fail... Don't they know chrome is for Cadillacs and Lexuses (Lexi?)? Is that an option, I hope...?

That last picture made me think it had an auto-deploy spoiler for a second, then I realized the trunk was just opened.

By the way, you should look at your post, the pics are all sorts of crazy.

I love the dark gray almost like the graphite gray. In fact that is the color I will be getting. I think some dark tint, blacked out tail lights and some matter black 18" staggered offset wheels will blend quite nicely along with a de-badge job.

ya ... because debadging a car is way more work and money than I'm willing to spend ...

its people like you that make these snap judgments about minor things that end up with their foot in their mouths.

for example ... when the production pics of the X came out the internet was filled with people who hated the look ... now its filled with people who love it or are warming up to it.

basically, look beyond the first glance, look at a car's potential

I personally like the badging on cars as long as it is tasteful. Sorry. That's just how I am. I'm the kind of person who put the big EVOLUTION VIII badge across my Evo, in black, not chrome. The badges can be taken off and sanded and painted matte black probably pretty easily, and that's exactly what I would do. The size of the Hyundai H is a little annoying, but I'm sure a smaller one could be found, and maybe it wouldn't look so bad in black.

The major part is the "and the ugly *** chrome grill." That grill doesn't look too easy to replace. Definitely not a simple "debadging."

I still hate the Evo X's look. The '09s finally look a little better with the blacked out tails, but still... meh.

My foot will not be in my mouth unless that chrome grill is an option. Nor did I make a snap judgement, since I clearly asked if it was an option or not... I will never own a car that has chrome on it that isn't easily removed/repainted/etc. That's just my opinion, and how my family and I have been forever. My mom had to special order her Lexus GX470 in order to get it w/o all the chrome bits on it when they had first came out, since all the dealers were ordering it with the chrome stuff only. My opinion will not change, just like it didn't with the X.

that is why you can make different cars. Not everybody like the same look.
Nothing wrong with that.
if i would go for look, i would never buy an Evo, period.

The Evo is not about look, it is about possibilities, and that is why i love them

Exactly what I'm trying to say. I didn't say that the Genesis was going to be a crappy car. Just that I don't like how it looks with that chrome grill. I already stated it will probably be pretty awesome, and other than those few little exterior things, it even looks pretty decent. Just because I think the Evo X is ugly doesn't mean I think it's slow or a crappy car, I've been in two and driven one. The X is a very capable machine, just like I'm sure the Genesis will be. If I was in the market for either of the two types of cars, I'd give them just as much chance as their competitors, and deal with the "flaws" if I purchased them. No car is perfect in looks or performance, and on top of that, we all have seperate opinions. I fully stand behind my belief that the Veyron is one of the ugliest machines on the road, for example.

I think this car for low to mid 20's is going to be a big hit. To me it look as good (and probably not coincidentally very similar) as a G37 which isn't bad and seems to have a nice layout: RWD +2.0 turbo that will likely have good aftermarket support. Hyundai has done something smart in setting high standards and targets. Having looked at the Genesis sedan at auto shows I really couldn't say a top end Lexus or Infiniti really feels that much more upscale.

You want to know why? Because the dealerships SUCK DONKEY ***** LIKE A TIJUANA *****.

Seriously. Have you been in an Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, or Mercedes dealership? I've owned two out of those 4 and have been with friends at the others (and shopped there). Comparing a Hyundai experience to a true luxury brand is not anywhere in the same league.

And the car STILL didn't feel like a $40k car. There was a lot of corner cutting in all the little details (which honestly we're seeing across the board).

I'm actually looking at getting the V6 (along with the wrx, mustang, and possibly evo if you can get one for 29k OTD). Why would you get the V6? How about 310 hp and pretty much loaded up for around 25-26k? Very good warranty since I really don't "need" nor want to tune it right away, plus decent torque out of the box. Later on if you want a bump in power, there are already reports of upwards of 35-40 hp from just intake and exhaust (plenty enough for me). And if you want a really fast car, wait a few years until its paid off or warranty is up and get a SC. It should also handle well and get good gas mileage.

Looking good. Hyundai make good cars now adays. Better than any domestic car makers. Also they are going into direction people want RWD,Turbo charged, and price. Can you name turbo charged RWD under 20k?
I really like the rear bumper(love G37) but that high chrome H gotta go.
I'm also going to pick this up if they get some aftermarket parts.
Cant wait to see them when I PCS to korea next fall.

Just a cool thing. The mitsu dealer here in palm springs (on vacation) is joined with the hyundai dealer. The story in short: went to test drive a X with my dad. He was very impressed by the genesis sedan and "didn't know hyundai made something that nice" Its a big deal for my dad to be impressed by a car like that. If my dad likes it, society will accept it, even if it's a hyundai.
