what you guys think about the genesis
i've heard that the next Tiburon might sport the RWD/V8 setup of the Genesis. if thats true, the lighter weight of the Tiburon would help make this platform competitive. or maybe a Genesis two-door is in the works? either way, as long as its lighter than the 4-door Genesis with the same motor.
As I have commented a few times on here the 2.0T Coupe is going to be my new "toy" as well as we will be offering a complete lineup of parts for the car.
A couple of weeks ago I added a Coupe section to our forums if you guys would like to check some of the stuff out. http://buschurforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=49
Since the coupe was announced I have done extensive research to learn everything possible on the car. While some facts are kind of still out there since we do not have the actual US spec car here alot is hard to say what is true until you can put your own hands in to it.
Just to clarify this as the post wasnt all too clear but..... The Coupe will NOT have a V8. The Coupe is going to be offered with a turbocharged 4cyl or a V6. The V8 is in the Sedan as well as it is offered with a V6.
4cyl is supposed to be a "de-tuned" 4B11T.
I agree.
There is already ECUTEK software out for it in Korea where the car was released in September.
I have a source in Korea who confirmed the Evo X block and the Genesis 2.0T blocks are the same. I can not speak for this as 100% as I will not confirm or repeat things as fact until I can personally see. What I was originially told is it is the same 4B11T engine with a slight difference in the head.
That is correct. The base coupe is supposed to be priced right around $19,300 from what ive heard.
I am going for the track package which add some suspension components and the same Brembo brake kit as the Evo.

i saw the genesis at the hyundai headquarters in socal when they had the measuring session a few months ago, and i think it is a pretty well build car. it definitely has good potential to be fast, but i don't think anyone has driven it yet, so we'll just have to see how it stacks up against the other players when it hits the market.
I think the genesis is going to turn out to be a good platform for Hyundai to attract the whole modding tuning crowd.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNKDnZtf-Ws
Seriously, did you have to be lazy and type srsly after all that pointless complaining? Did you even take your own advice?
At any rate, the Genesis coupe should be pretty awesome, too bad weather here means RWD is a bad idea.
In terms of pricing, Hyundai could pull that off because:
- Korea has a very controversial leader at the moment
- He backs up all big Korean corporates such as Hyundai and Samsung
- According to the rumor, Hyundai uses this as an advantage and screws up Hyundai buyers in its home country to reduce pricing for export models.
Regarding affordable RWD cars:
- Mustang, 350Z and MX-5 Miata filled up niches pretty well. I'm sure a car like 240SX (Silvia) could extend the market a bit but interms of size and weight, I don't think Genesis Coupe fits.
- RX-8 failed, terrible fuel economy + lack of torque is not the best combination currently for cars in the United States, which is their biggest market.
- MR2 Spyder failed due to controversial design and bad pricing. It was a helluva car mechanically though.
- S2000 needs complete overhaul, it is almost dead.
- Japanese auto makers are hesitating to bring back the affordable pocket rockets because it has high chance of being a 'business failure'. Right now they're much better off spending time on alternative fuel research. If you can step up to guarantee them certain number of sales figures, I'm sure they're more than happy to build those cars.
Regard Genesis Coupe:
- Its main target is G37, a grand tourer. While it is not a bad platform for building performance oriented car, there are better cars for enthusiasts.
- If the chassis and suspension is good and easy to work on then it will be a helluva car for the price. It will still be only 28k or so with engine swap. It would be even better if the engine is so good that it wouldn't need a swap.
- Perhaps if they could ressurect Tiburon using the same platform and RWD layout, with dimension of MX-5 Miata or a little bigger then slap on the 2.0T, and price it a big cheaper around 17-18k range, it would be a hit!

Now if you hadn't heard of the upcoming Mini-E, that I would understand.
First two is stock coupe (I-2.0L) and the last one is rotrex supercharged pushing 400whp with 0.6-0.7 bar (V6 3.8L) with aftermarket bumper
I like the looks from the side...

not feeling the back and front tho. It reminds me of the new g37.
And this link is video of 2.0 turbo with GT30R with stock internal pushing 362 whp with 0.7 bar of boost
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_UN0cvXr7g
and some more pic of genesis with different wheels
