my mom's car wouldn't start today, no cranking of the engine just a clicking noise that was about (10am) then she tried it about half hour later and it started so she went out and stopped at a few places shutting the car off and turning it back on, then at about (12:30pm) it happened again so she come home after finally getting the car started (20mins) later and called the dealer and dealer said it was the battery does that sound right i was thinking it was the starter!?

what do you guys think its an 05 g35 with 50,000miles

thanks

usually when the starter clicks like that it could mean that the battery is at a low charge

Battery indeed.
Change it immediately.
Then your car will start.

Go to napa, get a new starter, spend 20 minutes and replace it.

Hit your starter with a 3 pound Ford wrench, it should get you by for a while.

Clicking is usually either the battery or the starter/solenoid. Former is easy to check (voltmeter), latter requires a stop at Autozone or a dealer.
