How much does it weigh? The beauty of the Miata is in its durability and low weight, neither of which is something GM is known for.

Oh and that exhaust is completely lame, I just noticed it

The Miata community generally hates anything that isn't Miata. They've got a bit of an ego issue.

Yes, I'm comparing the styling lines on a Pontiac to a Jag. Get over it.

Base Curb Weight: 3018 (for the GXP at least, 50 less for the non GXP)

This is why. 600 pounds compared to a Miata is a LOT. Power is easy to come by, as is suspension tuning and traction. Stripping 600 pounds out of a street car is a PITA. Weight is the enemy, and Pontiac have turned to the dark side with the Solstice.

This is true as well, though there are many who are miata drivers because it's simply the best roadster produced regardless of manufacturer.

To be fair: try bringing up a thread about a subaru here and see the response. I can assure you you'd still see quite a bit of ignorant brand hatred simply from the competitive bias. The advantage that the miata community shares is that there are plenty of older, more mature users on the more popular forums compared to most other enthusiast brands. Lots of young kids are scared of being associated as being "gay" for driving one.

I've seen Amby's discussions. Also, I'd love to have a Miata, but I've kinda given up on the idea after sitting in a couple, I'm just too big to fit comfortably in them.

I'm 6' 1" and I barely, barely fit with the seat in the farthest position.

The only way I'd fit, and be legal to race (helmet level or below roll bar), would be to get an aluminum seat and then weld it to the floor. Even then, it'd be a tight fit. That car's not built for a 6'3" frame.

Well put; There are so many kids out there who will emulate the FATF mentality and heaven knows it will be a cold day in hell before a miata were the halo car of FATF!

sucks they aren't doing this on the Sky. I prefer that over the Pontiac, It's a lot more aggressive looking.

These cars arent that bad from real world experience the only problem with these cars is that the non-turbo need more get-go, other than that they corner pretty bad-***.

I thought something about that didnt look right. I guess the most obvious things are the window and the tailpipe.

While GM pays retirement plans for 400000 people Toyota only pays retirement plans for 700 people, that is a stone true statement. It is very easy to blame the brand and say that they make ****y cars but the reality is that the economy affects many other subsidiearie industries like glass, metal, rubber, leather, stereos, speakers, chemicals, petroleum, etc, etc...

Doesn't that tell you something about the efficiency of the way a toyota plant is ran as opposed to a GM plant? I don't think they'd be able to make quality cars if they were just running on a skeleton crew to save money.
