Plus living in New Jersey with the cars you have in your garage, insurance cannot be cheap. Although I have no idea what the insurance is on high mileage evo in comparison to lower mileage, it can't be very low considering your only 19 years old. Your 1700 month pay check turns into a 1400 month (hell maybe less) paycheck, and who knows how much after gas. I guess that is just assuming that the parents aren't contributing. How long will they be contributing? Nothing worse than having a dream car ripped from your grasp because you couldn't enjoy the dream car that's already in your garage.
Well first, I pay for the evo by myself. and second. I dont want to beat up my evo, I want to be one of those old car guys in 40 years chillin at the car show with my evo that I have had for the longest time.. and I wanted the skyline to beat the **** out of.. but it seems unrealistic , but its still a thought and possibility

I just want to say.. I made this thread for advice.. not to be trash talked... I told you how much I make a month, I didnt tell you how much I have saved up. I didnt tell you that i have an 03 lancer oz rally for sale for 4000 and a porsche 944 for sale for 1000. and I just wanted some advice... I wanted to know what you guys thought and I wanted my skyline for the track mostly, and to have fun making fast.. I wanted advice and I juust got flamed.. I dont really care because none of you even know me...

Thanks to the people that helped, but there wasnt many, most people just wanted to trash talk because they felt I was out of my league or whatever.

Guise, you are scaring the OP away from his dreams.
OP, you insult the first poster that tried to set you right with the skyline, saying you have done your homework, when in fact, you have not. Sure you might be able to get a skyline to the port for 7k, but to drive it away it would cost exponentially more. Sure you might be able to title it in FL with some minor modifications, but its still federally illegal and the feds can come scoop it up.
On top of all that, even though alot of the posters in this thread think so, getting a r34 manual skyline for 5 grand in japan is not gonna happen. R32, r33 yes. r34 no. Yes cars are very cheap here, but r34 skylines are not 5grand in mint condition like this one is listed.
Find a new dream, change your signature, and sell your evo to someone who won't wreck it.

Edit: here is a nice official federal website, telling you that only r33s conform to federal standards, with modifications. This site will crush your dreams, please read it.

You're a young adult, not a kid. Learn the difference. And if you really want the skyline as a project car, then get it. Just have fun being broke, especially when something on your evo breaks.

I've probably touched more gtr's then most on this forum and everyone, but this kid knows what he is in for. Haha. Why bash him on his dreams when he clearly knows what he is doing. Just let him buy whatever it is he thinks he can buy. Go ahead and import the car and get ready to feel the pain!

Hey guy, why dont you focus on trying not to crash that evo in a month or so, then wait a few years (you know when life kicks your butt), and see if you still want (can get) a skyline.

Yes and op posted a gtst and price tange he mentioned if 34 is of a gtt.

Only gtr that give evo locally are 35 gtr. Gtr are nice but americans think they are super holy.

I dont drive like an idiot and i have collision so if i get in a crash I will hopefully be saved. the fact that u bring up a crash offends me because u probably think that im an idiot driver just because of my age. I dont have any accidents yet, so why dont you keep it relevant because me crashing is irrelevant. Also, I can afford the skyline now ( it would be a little difficult and hard for a little while ) but to me it is worth it because cars are my life, so having an r33 in my driveway to work on would be entirely worth it... After this thread I probably wont be getting a skyline, but we will see where I am after I sell my OZ rally and my porsche, and talk to my dad, If I end up getting it, I will make another post showing you the skyline next to my evo.

Thanks for making me like the evo community that im new to less other then a few people

"Smoke weed everday" - Nate Dogg voice.

Yeah purchasing anything other then a R33 is a waste of time for the reason Vivid listed. On the state level it won't matter. Federal trumps all and Federally only the R33 was crash tested by Motorex so all the R32's and R34's they sold were illegal.

Its been talked about that the feds are slowly finding these cars and taking them away from the owners regardless of the money it cost them with NO re-imbursement because its on the roads Illegally.

Same thing happened with Evolution Imports and all the Evo VII's they imported and the S15's I believe.

if you want to keep your evo pristine then buy another to daily drive.
