Seems like an evo would be the obvious choice for reliability, the skyline could maybe be a side project you could work on but not daily drive?

All I hear is "again, again, again." The ladies love the evo.

Alright thanks guys.

boozeup&riot: i am just planning on using it as a cruiser for the weekend and local car meets just to show off haha (ya i guess im still a little immature haha)

johnnnyjeans: Having a shop is not a problem, my dad own his own shop so space and tools wont be a problem. And no doubt a evo is a solid car, i have wanted an evo for the longest time and have been saving for one for a while and have enough to get one now.

For the rest of you thanks again, i appreciate all the help. But it looks like im gonna get the evo (hopefully soon) and possibly get a 71-73 240z as a project instead.....for now

Funny, all I hear is "Don't forget the milk, we're running low on baby wipes, do you want me to bake cookies this weekend?" The ladies in my life don't respect the Evo.

OP, good luck with the Evo! Don't forget to post up pics when the right Evo finds you.

Let me begin by saying I am 20 years old, and have been saving up for a while to buy a 2006 WW Mitsubishi Evo MR. I almost have enough for it since the one i found has a salvage title due to theft and needs the tranny replaced.

But i started out as a Nissan fanboy and was into skylines from the start. Well after doing some snooping, i found a company that can get me a 1972 Skyline from japan in my budget of $15,000 and then a couple more thousand for teh other stuff required to get it to my front door.

So my question is, to the ones of you that have a Evo and have thought about cars that you would get if you had the money, would any of you prefer a '72 skyline to an Evo.

I am thinking of getting the skyline to work on and getting a Chevy Tahoe for daily driving....

Whats your guy's thoughts?
In the end isn't really about what you want? Most of us will tell you Evo, we love our cars, many consider it more than just a vehicle or a form of transportation, but an extension of themselves and their form of artwork. The car you are going to get is ultimately up to you, you have to weigh it out, do you want something more practical or do you want a project and another car to drive in the process of completing the project. Do you plan on starting a family? I know 20 is still pretty young, I'm no old man, I'm only 26, but I graduated from my two eclipses because after getting married, I realized with planning on starting a family a 4 door car was going to be way more practical than a 2 door. However if you don't plan on getting married or have a girlfriend that really cares, then do what you ultimately want. You will learn a lot no matter which path you choose and there will be a ton of people willing to help you in the auto scene regardless if you go nissan or mitsubishi.

Well ya because i see posts every so often about people wanting to trade their evos for others cars so i just figured a 1972 Nissan Skyline would be one of the cars that would be worthy of an evo owner possibly change/upgrade to. I mean have you never wished you would have gotten another car other than the evo at least once? Don't get me wrong, i can't wait for the day to get my evo.

donzilla2004: Ya i understand where you are coming from, thanks again

Not that easy... Well... I guess it could be. Just highly illegal and it could be confiscated by the feds if he didnt import it at a federal level etc. Big head ache.

The vintage skyline he wants is exempt from the importation laws because its over 25 years old.

Wise choice on the Evolution. I couldn't daily drive my vintage car even if the weather was closer to yours, you give up a lot of "granteds" when you start driving old cars daily.
