Evo or Skyline?
Hey guys whats up? Sorry i haven't responded in a while. Anyway, i just came back here to let everyone know, yes I am getting the Evo as soon as i can save up the little amount that's left to get the car. I have a guy that i found on craigslist from like January that had an evo i was interested in and im hoping he hasn't sold it yet haha (I talked to him in like march and he still had it). So hopefully in the next week or 2 ill be able to pay the guy and the the evo. Just so you all know i'm looking at a WW 2006 MR (has a salvage title but he says due to theft...ill be taking my dad with me who is a mechanic to check it out and ill run a carfax/autocheck report as soon as i finish saving up for it).
As for the skyline, i was completely blinding by the thought of owing one that i forgot the cost/difficulty to obtain replacement oem parts for it.
But I will get a 1971-73 240z as a project ( will prob be a shell so i can get it cheap and wont feel guilty for doing anything un-repairable to such a classic)
Once again thanks for all your help and opinions.

Glad you decided on the evo. The skyline was a bad choice.
As said earlier, in 72, skylines came in more than just GTR.... The most common was 1800GL and 1500GL. The c10 skyline model in anything other an 1.5 or 1.8 is extremely rare, and at the price you listed, since you didn't specify, was probably one of the low end models. You may thing skyline, fast. That is far from the case on the C10 1500 and 1800s. They are slow by most standards, come with a 4 speed trans. The 1800GL has 105 PS( about 100 HP). At 15000, a 1.5 and 1.8 is highly overpriced, in mint condition. Those can be had for around 7 grand.

the only skylines i like are r32's and r34's
dood do you really own a z32? i love those things. vg30dett is one of my favorite motors!
honestly i would go with the evo not because i own one but because of the ease of ownership and operating costs. the old skyline will be a bit difficult to source parts for, not to mention probably expensive too. the evo is by no means a cheap car to own, but you wont have as much trouble with it as you would with an old skyline.
however, BOTH will bring a wow factor to your fleet. i think the evo would also be the winner if you like explosive speed

SaulHudson: Ya, im glad i went with that choice as well, but i already knew that the 70's skylines were not fast. I was not looking for fast. I honestly would love to own one of those things from any range (bone stock to highly modified). Oh and yes, i was going to go for a low end model, i know better than to give such a low gudget for a GT-R.
rick1024: Thanks man, much appreciated but i have some bad news...lol my z32 is a NA Auto =( ....I only bought it because i sold my 1979 Pontiac Trans am so i can start saving up for an evo and wanted something cheap to drive in the mean time as a DD.
Others: Thanks for the comments

Having a vintage Skyline would be awesome to have in the nest. As a daily driver, that would be a toss up. If I had to select, I would get the Skyline as the possibility to get another, especially if it is in good shape, would be difficult. You can always find a used EVO 8/9 down the road.
