The ForeSTAR Project
Hey all got a good update to post today. The GC was finished a few days ago so I finally got to start putting some real time into the Forester.
Got started with fabbing up the spoiler brackets. I think the Hatch is a little weak from being stripped out so I am going to change it a little bit later this week.

After that I got started on the rear bumper support/ rear diffuser. After 2 Days I ended up with this. It only weighs 14lbs and it may not be very pretty but not all things that are functional are so. Oh and becuase racecar...

Nice step back shot...

Lastly for that day I finished up making some bumper/ hatch mounts. Piece of round pipe with a nut welded to the end. Slip the bumper on, shut the hatch screw in place...

Next was getting everything ready for paint so I started buttoning up the rear flares. I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do on the rear of the flares but I ended up just fitting them to the quarter pannel. They are a lot stronger and this is much simpler.

Next up was bolting them to the chassis. I decided I would make a tool to counter sink the metal to fit flush-mount screws. Took an m14 nut and welded an m6 nut in sided and make a sort of press.

Wroked like a charm. Going to be keeping this tool for a long time...

Hey all sorry to the delay in updates. I worked my *** off the last 7 days to get it as close to finished as I could get it to get it to the NW Big Meet Car show. Some of you saw it there maybe it was a good time. Anyways lets go back a few days....
Once the fenders were all welded up and all the triming was finished it was finally time for some body filler.

I spent about 3 hours per side and I only did the rear flares. I'll be going back and taking care of the imperfections and other dents after I get it running.
All sanded ready for primer:

And... primed:

Next up was finally getting some color on it. Started with the cage first because it didn't require any masking. The color is very finiky so it has to do 3 super light coats and it still has a couple reactions but overall it turned out pretty good.

Then it was time to mask off the cage and paint the interior in a nice gloss black.

After that it was time to finish up the remainder of little things. Getting the mirrors mounted. Finishing the spoiler mounts and bolting the hatch on. Finishing the ducting for the v-mount. Very proud of this...

At this point I was working so many hours and so fast I kinda forgot to take pics... The white sealer I was planning on spraying was no good so all I could do was get 1 coat of some leftover black from the Legacy and some gunmetal grey from an R32 Skyline I painted a couple years ago one it so it was all one color. However I have pics from the show to show how she finally turned out. It was well recived even though it was not completly finished. I think the most common thing I herd was "this is insane" and "OMG". Also the GC project that I have been working along side this won best GC8 and it currently at Maxwell for tuning. I'll have more pics of that in a few days.
Well enjoy. I still have to swap the blocks after Mike at PIA finishes building it. Get a few undercarrage parts powder coated and then install the wiring. Once its done it will go to PIA for tuning and if there is enough time before WCSS I'll finish up the body work and get it in its final color.

Got it to the show. Not finished but nice enough to show off the TSS parts.

Once I get my build short block back the front end can come back off parts can get powdercoated and the wiring can go in.

Could do without the wing, but other than that... amazing.
Prior to the tires being mounted, I kept thinking "why is he going through so much trouble with fenders and spacers just to put on 245s?" Then I saw the 275 rubber...

I wanted to put some 305s on it but they are to spendy. The 275/40/17 is like some special corvette size or something they are considerably cheaper then any other size close to them. The wing is a hit or miss with most but I need it for track days so its one of those function over looks thing. I was hoping my new high comp short block was going to be done soon but it will be another week before I can get it back into the shop so swap the motor and get the rest of the parts powdercoated and installed.
I have a couple another builds I could post up that is actually finished.
If any one is interested in a 97-01 Impreza (GC8) with a custom wide body, fully tucked engine bay and all sorts of custom goodies.
or...
an 87 AE86 coupe with an EZ30 (Tribeca 3.0L flat 6) in the front, S13 IRS in the rear and EVO X brakes.
I should have my website up soon that has all my builds in them so maybe I'll just put a link to it in my sig.
thanx for the kind words guys. I know its a lezbaru, but shes one of those butch flannel wearing types that like to get in fights at bars with bikers...
