Lexus RX330 HID light help...

My mom's front headlight went out the other day so she took it to the dealership to have it looked at. They told her the entire headlight needed to be replace at the cost of $2,000.

Obviously I am little skeptical, but here are the details. It has a little bit of condensation inside the headlight. The high beams, turn signal, and driving lights all still work though. My guess is that either the bulb or ballast went out (due to condensation I do not know...the car is at about 100k Miles). My hope is to dry out the headlight, fix the bulb/ballast, reseal the unit and call it a day. Trouble is that shes taken it to 2 different places, and no one really knows what they are talking about. I'm no pro, but I have a general understanding of how they work and have installed a set before. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

DO this:

1.) swap ballast from other side and see if it works after that.

2.) switch Capsule (Bulb) from other side and see if it works.

Most OE Capluse and Ballasts can be had for $50 or less on EBAY. Unless headlight wiring inside had a total meltdown, you shoulnt need a new assembly. They are designed by DOT standards to last for much longer and have replaceable parts.
