the vwvortex.com board has a r32 section. most there seem to feel like the europeans got the real deal and sent the posermobile over here. barely more than an anniversary gti in specs at quite an increase in price.

they've had some pretty good articles on the R32 over the last year and a half or so....

 

I saw one in person and let me tell you this thing is looks amazing, i would buy one but its not too fast of a start but very fast on high speeds as well as on roll. I wish if they made them twin turbo like my S4, then it will be a different story all together.

 

It doesn't hold a candle to the Evo. An underpowered N/A V6 is going to be playing ALOT of catching up to the 4G63.

Calling evo magazine a "rag" is completely wrong. That is probably the single best car mag in the world. I have read or subscribed to almost all of them, as my friends will attest after seeing the stacks I get every month. I believe they gave the R32 five stars (highest rating - same as the Evo), but had the quality problems. And they do not pull punches with their reviews. The editor-in-chief had an SL55 and detailed what crap it turned out to be...

I am sure it would be very quick with 3.2L of turbocharged V6, but the engine bay is SUPER-tight already, so adding the plumbing would be cost-prohibitive. Of course, some people have the money to do that, but then people have the money to make 700hp Evos, too. Just a different beast. I originally wanted the R32 because I've always liked Golfs and it is cool that VW finally sent over one we really wanted. There are so many outstanding cars under $40K now, it makes the choice very difficult: G35 coupe, R32, Evo, STi, RX-8, 350Z, etc. etc. It's a great time to be a car enthusiast.

 

Add turbo and it will do 0-60mph in 3 sec. Top speed is registered at little over 200mph in europe.

an article showcasing the r32 from the june 2003 article of sport compact car claims that it hits 60 mph in about 3.7 second....

 

dude!...relax!!....I love the magazine myself, no disrespect intended!....I read it regularly, cover to cover...also read "CAR" from the U.K.

just intended as a general reference to a "magazine," that's all....as I stated, they have had some pretty good articles about the R32....

 

you cant turbo charge it the CR is tooo high 11.3:1 too much for turbo. I would buy it have fun with for 2 years once i get board of it i will swap with the S4 engine 2.7 twin turbo in it, it will be an easy swao i am sure, then it will smoke some serious cars and will have all the lauxury.

 

that was my concern....still a sweet car though...
