While i like the the look of a stanced car, I know that many will look back and sigh just like the over the top body kids of last decade.

More about style with the younger crowd. Most of them have never been on a race track with a car, let alone their EVO. I would be willing to bet if they were able to drive a properly setup car or stock car for that matter they would change their mind. More about style and social reasons.

Going to be 100% honest (almost what the OP said anyway)

-I DO like the look of a slightly stretched tire, though nothing ridiculous that appears unsafe.

-I DO like a lowered car, for me a 2in drop over stock is far enough though. I can't imagine driving a car lower than that. It's hard enough to pick the better side of a driveway to pull into lol.

-I DO like putting lips on cars. Sometimes adding a little something to dress up the front a bit looks great and separates you from a stock appearing car.

-I DON'T like plisti-dip. It just looks like unfinished\unpolished paint. I don't mind it so much for accented parts such as putting it over chrome, but no bland colored plasti dip only.

I think it boils down to form/style over function, also its a fad and young guys do anything to get a girls attention. The hella/fatlace is a lifestyle that comes with the whole package, clothing, slang, music, style, etc. really no diiferent from rockabilly or any other group. just my perspective.

I dont mind stanced cars if it is a show car. What irritates me are the idiots that thik they are hot **** with their stanced cars and rev on everyone on the road. They give all import tuners/lovers a bad name.

I saw a slammed Wrx the other day with a eat sleep race on his car...

It makes me sad to see a machine that was engineered to perform at speed be converted into a machine that can no longer perform its original function as it was intended.

In the end though, it's your car and your money so do whatever makes you happy.

I love seeing stanced cars at the race track. I especially enjoy watching them losing control around the corners on an autocross course.

Well said, Noize. The Stance culture is all about pretentiousness. Its the appeal to look more stupid than the next joe. Take a look at the thread that shall not be named here on Evom. It screams look at me, and the OP clearly states and welcomes the ruckus it it calls to itself. Attention *****, to put it directly. Hate is the first word that will come frome their mouth - when a clear idiotic chose in tire fitment or suspension treatment, followed by not everybody is building a racecar. You idiot! Find you a niche that doesn't involve risking somebodys life on the road or destroying public property.
I think they get a form of adrenaline called (dumb@ss-a-mofodine) released in the brain when they scrape.

I think its a combination of the evos become cheaper and it just looks so damn nice. IMO this is a way more attractive car (at least ct9a) than the subarus, vws, 240sx. They can't resist stancing the crap out of the evos. I just bought wheels and the seller was afraid I was going to use it for stance, lol. He was relieved to know I wasn't.

One of the cleanest evos I've ever personally driven got stanced by the next owner. HARD.

Epic sadness

It's sad really, especially knowing the amount of effort people put forth into achieving the look. It serves no purpose other than creating another amateur photographer with a fancy camera.

I love the ones who state that it handles "like it's on rails". Trust me, take it to an event with purpose built cars and leave in shame.

That said, everyone reserves the right to showcase their passions.

Agreed. Very often it simply looks like Maaco paint.

Most of the time people with those hats look just like that, missing teeth and all.
