Modern rice is... Stance
This is my own opinion but I think "stance" came from VIP cars. Lowering to the point of tucking the wheels, huge lip rims, camber and stretched tire to help tuck the tire under the fender. But since coupes and other sports cars aren't really VIP, they had "stance" or were "hellaflush". The fad escalated from there to massive lips and huge camber 5+ deg, flared or pulled fenders and dangerous tire stretching.
Personally I think it's all retarded.

There are so many plaforms you can "stance" that would look better than an Evo or STi.
I'm with most everyone here
You bought a machine built to take corners and threw it right out the damn window
I think any car stanced looks absolutely retarded however it does make for a good
which we all need from time to time

Yea I hear comments from the kids from time to time. I dropped my Lancer onto a set of Eibach pro-kit springs, which was a very nice tasteful drop and stance. But I'm running 17's with 225/45 tires, I always hear kids at car meets saying I should be running 18's and fill in the wheel gap. Yesterdays meet I was parked beside a nice evo, when I looked at them, I was sitting at the exact same height and had the same wheel gap (are the bbs stocks 17?) and that makes me think I'm on the right track, personally I love how it looks. Everyone is different.
It's one thing running -1 to -2 degrees of negative camber on a track/race car that has been properly set up. Case in point are the Speed World Challenge Realtime Acuras. They run quite a bit of negative camber up front. The stance cars are just a joke though.

I like some of how the car looks but we all know when its ridiculous and over board. I like aggressive wheels but you can get aggressive before going full retarded. Like the previous caption.....everyone knows you don't go full retard.
I defiantly dislike excessive drops/camber on EVO's....most cars actually. The only acceptable application of that look for me is IF they're on Air suspension. And even then I still dislike the look. But at least It can be raised to a decent height at the touch of a button
this FAD has been annoying me a lot lately, only because 85% of the cars at car meets now are "stanced" it hurts me even more to see evo's stanced out. Even seeing subaru's stanced is hard to see especially since these cars have a crazy bpu potential. But then again, this is what happens in NY, when you see a whole bunch of dumbasses racing and killing themselves. speaking of, i would really love to know some local spots on long island that still host some occasional underground racing and regular meets that have a nice mix of cars rather than just everybody spending 2k to drop their car. lol

Like every other trend....this too will pass and you will see a bunch of wheels coming up for sale that no one wants to buy because the offset is way off.
