Make the move. You won't regret it.

 

I would say the mustang crowd is worse. And, at least you get an actual nice car with the BMW.

Sold my EVO IX MR SE last year and am also moving into an E90 M3 (most likely).

The EVO was fun, but just not a good daily driver. I think you're making a good choice.

 

I'm probably biased, but personally after having fun with a few BMWs and taking a ride around the track in an E92 M3 with Stoptechs it was nice and it sounded good on downshifts, but I got no other emotion from the car and it felt really heavy. I drove some early 2000s Mercedes recently also and got a similar feeling.

They were a little quieter, and seemed nice, and went fast even though they didn't feel like they were, but the minor additional creature comforts didn't justify the extra cost and the fact that I really just didn't enjoy riding in / driving them. It would be comfortable for a long haul as a passenger, but the floaty boaty heft just didn't do it for me.
