The Golf R just did a nice job smoking the STI and more than a few others here

Slower around the track than a VW Golf, shame on you Subaru.
Hopefully the next generation WRX/STI will be smaller and back to a 2.0 engine. I just don't see how the current model can compete with the likes of the upcoming Focus RS.

Thats what subaru gets for being lazy and just using the same old engine over and over and over. Yes i know the body was redone as well as the suspension but its still the same ringland failure proned engine as before..

I am not so sure. I think the RS interior looks terrific http://www.caricos.com/cars/f/ford/2...20x1080/6.html
I'm not really a fan of the center stack, although I could live with it. I wasn't so much talking about looks though, more so about fit/finish, interior NVH levels, and overall quality of materials used..

R demolishes it interior-wise. That RS center stack is garbage.
The evo interior is horrible. Thats not why I bought it. When I buy another car to daily, the focus will be for a more "all-around" car as opposed for pure performance. The Audi S4 S5 or S3, Golf R, or Focus RS are all a possibility.
I think this quote from Randy Pobst is worth noting
Lap times don't always tell the whole story. That being said, I agree completely that Subaru needs to change that damn engine and provide some kind of improvement given it's largely been unchanged for more than a decade now.
