So the CEO - Martin Winterkorn, 68, of Volkswagen for the past 8 years decided to immediately jump ship after the emission-software snafu comes to light.

Absolutely NO backbone.. Pathetic!

Wonder how much $,$$$Millions he's been compensated during those years and what his severance package is?

Am I the only one that thinks an ecu that tricks emissions and gives more power the "rest" of the time is a good thing?

Does anyone believe that these cars pose a threat to public health? I mean trucks and semis put out more emissions than these vw diesels, and there are more of them on the road, and no one is freaking out that they're a threat to public health...

Sadly, this is normal practice across many industries. Sell, sell, sell...we'll deal with the lawsuits later.

well its Scheise wagen anyway, so no surprise. Heavily protected by EU "free trade" laws, and very arrogant company with its major defects in product lines. The failing DSG transmissions, injectors, high pressure pumps, dying engines that never get recalled nor changed under warranty/post warranty. Good somebody came to hunt this pack of industry's jackals.

Just watch when FIAT sourced Chevy Cruze passes EPA tests.

Guess it IS time to pay the piper!
Volkwagen will cough up $14.7B (to possibly $18 Billion) to settle this cheating fiasco.

Someone put the "H" down on 'em.
And, I didn't realize there were so Many Execs that resigned afterwards. Especially when they originally claimed "they weren't involved/didn't know about such manipulations..."
