A lot of SRT4 owners talking smack about beating EVO 8. Just wondering if anyone ran into one yet and what was the outcome. Stock vs stock which car will win. From a stop the EVO have the advantage but from a roll I hear the SRT4 is a monster.

 

I raced one stock for stock and he couldn't keep up...

 

ive raced stock for stock. roll they will beat you, off the line well awd helps you win that one. from my so experiences that is how it turns out.

 

do you have to do a mild or wild launch to get ahead of him

 

I guess that's why they like picking on EVO among many of the other cars.

 

If you care about racing from a roll, sell your Evo and buy a Cobra/SupraTT.

 

I was involved in a car club rally where I was in between two black SRT4 all day.

The SRT's where surprisingly very quick (both where slightly pumped up). The one in front of me was the newer version with a LSD, it would pull hard out of corners and was very quick on straights. I would never really lose him but I had to work a little bit to keep up. I would close all over him under braking and my corner entry was MUCH quicker, to the point where I would stand on the brakes just to keep from rear ending him losing some momentum (he said all he saw of my car was my hood in his rearview mirror).

The guy behind me was struggling to keep up because he was under steering all over the place (maybe because of the open diff) but when the road was clear and straight he would be right behind me, f**king quick!

Both guys where way cool, total car nuts.

I was completely blown away how quick these cars are, good braking and really decent handling for a lot less money. Props to Mopar!

well hey they are a hell of alot lighter than us but i'd choose my evo anyday! i haven't had the chance to run into one yet but i'm looking forward to running all over one hehe

 

Yeah, I've yet to run one but I really want to. I've never even seen one in action. I ran into one last week and we paced each other down the street, stopping at many lights, but there was too many cars and just way too risky to try anything stupid so we just drove.

 

I actually had the chance to get a taste of one tonight. My buddy has a brand new one, Stage 1 upgrade, two step shifting...etc. Outcome was that from a slow roll/stop I would destroy him by a car or two. From a 60 mph roll the outcome was pretty even....I could not find 5th for some reason and he managed to stay right with me. My car is completly stock except for a mild ecu reflash.

hrmm this is something that is video worthy would be nice to see that... those things cannot hook up to save their soul!

 

Yes, the whole world should buy Evos and that will solve all the problems....

Honestly I dont understand why everyone rags on the SRT-4, perhaps its because from a roll the Evo hardly pulls from it. Why is it so hard to respect all cars for what they are worth? Yea the Neon is an ugly crap box, but its damn fast for the price......

 

hrmm from a roll a evo hard pulls? a stock evo could/would get crushed. top end.. slightly modded, inches away. with 310 whp i inched away from one, he said he only had stage 1, but i dunno.. anyway up top they are quick.

thats why i do respect them. however once you get more modified they are nothing.
