Evo against Neon SRT

Man, I feel sorry for the SRT owners. They thought they got a bargain. Also they thought their car is as fast as an evo. Yes, maybe for one or two gears but thats all. We have a wider power band, better ability to launch, and better handling. It is great to see them think the car is better. In reality it is not better or equal.
Have pity for them.

True, but watch out on the roll if you're stock and they've got any factory-backed Mopar staged upgrades...

im logged in on my friends account. i have an srt-4 and would be willing to race most evo's my slightly modified srt-4 runs 12.719@105.42 in the 1/4 mile with a 1.719 best 60' so please when you post about srt-4's dont post generalized statements. the truth is most people who drive srt's have no idea how to drive the car. 04evors you are a newb and an a$$ dont be pissed because you paid 10k more and a stock srt with a good driver will hang with you in ALL GEARS but stock i hung with my friends slightly modded evo now we have simillar mods and my car is faster.

dont get me wrong i could not get financed for an evo. i would have liked to get one. i dont hate evo's i love the handling an the car fells faster than mine but at the 1/4 i win now and thats what i like to do so i am glad that i got the srt instead of the evo.

What tires were you running on the SRT to get the 1.719? Those are street tires?

i've always felt that the srt is as fast as, if not faster, than the evo stock for stock from a roll. it has better top end, and more displacement

i love the srt-4... great car! and, like with evos, some owners are just jerks. no need to put anyone down.

Don't forget our greatest advantage over the SRT4: a rich racing heritage.

Ummm, no offense to the SRT-4 owner, but not everyone buys cars for 1320 runs...I bought the EVO VIII because of it's heritage and it's build quality. Outside of america, no one knows what neons are! I am not speaking for all EVO VIII owners, or against all SRT-4 owners...I know a guy at my performance shop who has an SRT-4 that is pumpin' about 425hp...which is amazing. But as far a quality goes, how many axles and drivetrains are you going to go through in 7 years (if it lasts that long) in the SRT-4? Stock neon axles on the SRT-4's? Great engineering there...

Also, stock for stock...I have yet to see any SRT-4 owners dip into the mid 13's stock versus numerous EVO VIII owners easily accomplishing that...and check these out...looks like the SRT-4 wins everytime huh?!?

ENJOY!!

Well, actually I think our greatest advantage over the SRT-4 is handling. You know, turns? Those things they actually built the Evo for... There are certainly better drag cars than the Evo, but I challenge anyone to find a faster track car for the money.

Not here to argue. I am talking factory stock. Any mofiied whatever always goes faster than stock competition. That is my only clarification to all. I can make my evo do the same with the same or less money as well. Already have sticky tires, 4wheel drive launces. You got a 1.7 on street tires, the ones that came with the car? I am not a newbie bro. Only here. I have ten years of driving experience. Have been in 11 second RX7 with T60 series upgrade, 1965 Mustang 289 *mine, CRX Si with custom turbo on zc motor (mine), Integra Gsr *mine, Subaro WRX with full pipes w/ boost controller *mine, and this Evo RS *mine.
I aint a newbie. I work at a performance shop for over 4 years as well giving advice to newbies. I droped gears with an SRT. I started in second rolling and he tried to take of. Any amatuer can do that. Then I saw that the first (2)gear he held off. The second (3) I was gaining till right behing him. The 4th gear passed easily. I would say that that car stock has many disadvantages. The power drops of sooner(redlines at 6k). The more you have to shift the sloer your times.
I only paid 25,500 so only cost me 5k over SRT. I try to justify buying a 2wd with 6k redline, heavy wheels, no recaro seats or brembo brakes. Just saw the value in a world class champion rally car. Key word: rally car. Good luck on the warranty as well.
So now. I think I made my point. Now let me get back to working on my Masters Degree.
