That's pretty cool. Except I bet it won't get the fuel mileage it should. Particulate filters and Urea injection hurts fuel mileage in new diesels, bad...

I guess it depends on how much nothing they want new combustion engines to emit. New passenger cars aren't the problem.

Until we find a way to harness all that heat and sound and turn it into energy I don't think we'll be very close.

New, base 2.5-liter Dynamic Force inline-four in the Toyota Camry is supposedly 40% thermal efficient...when the throttle is open wide.

The Atkinson cycle engine in the Gen4 Prius also boasts 40% thermal efficiency, and that's currently on the streets.
