Hydrogen sounds good and all but man, there are less stations then they have for e85. Closest one to me is 30 miles away. I have 2 e85 stations within 7 miles of me. Blue dots are hydrogen places that might open sometime in 2020. Green dots are already open.
yah the FC EV's are kinda just in beta test mode. With the limited stations it really only works for a few people who work or live near one. Battery EV's have a huge leg up in this department. Most of what I'm reading suggests FCEV will replace the heavy trucking / industry type stuff and BEV for the masses. Kind of a diesel and gasoline type thing.
if and when ICE cars become niche like horses are now, gas prices will go through the roof. we have economies of scale working for gas prices now... that goes away when 99% don't need gas...
Sure, but lot of time before that happens, Non IC's projected 50% (or more) of sales until 2039. Less US EV sales in 2019 vs 2018.
Only 2% US market share for EV sales so far. Average life of new car almost 13 years now. Think I'll ride it out.

There are systems that actually can use your EV's charge to power your house. It's not all bad news for electrical outages.
And deliveries can be increased if needed. I've typically got 30-60 gallons in my boat. 20 gallons in an old bronco I use to tow boat or plow and various classics/hot rods with another 60-80 gallons
total of gas in them. Have 12 V transfer pump. I'm probably good to run a generator (or 2) for over a month straight, 24 hours a day.
Let me be more clear. I don't "want" an EV. In order for me to subscribe to possibly buying one, that's where the tech would need to be. It's needs to be a legit replacement for my gas vehicle.
My truck does 400+ miles unless I'm towing or go off-roading. So, in order to replace it an EV needs to do the same.
Tesla truck.is UGLY...but if the stats are true and the range is decent, while towing, I'd be in. 100% torque, at all times, is a tower's dream come true.
its ugly, there'd no doubt about it... but saving on manufacturing cost with that unpainted unrendered end product is how they were able to get it for so cheap

whaat? have you seen the rivian stuff? looks so much better.
yeah, the 250 mile range version is 30k more expensive... the base 250 mile Rivian costs the same as the 3 motor 500 range top of the line Tesla... no question the Rivian looks better
and just to be clear, the Tesla truck is ugly. I'm just saying why its ugly. Theres a Motor Trend article that goes into detail about all that stuff

I currently go 320 miles round trip, with a CGVW of a hair over 18K on 36 ish gallons of diesel.
(6200 lb offroad rig on heavy steel deck over and about 1300 lbs of parts and supplies in bed of truck).
Sometimes I dump in 5 gallons of diesel in parking lot at destination, but I don't have to "stop"
anywhere else on my trip. What is this "500 mile range", in 20 degree weather, pulling that kind of load?
