The RB26DETT is a sexy heritage engine, pretty much like a heritage watch now. That said, she is quite a bit more pricey than the popular GM Connect & Cruise stuff.
If I were to have the RB26 one day, I would prefer keeping her mostly stock. To me, a reliable stock(-ish) engine hauling me and women for a decade beats one modified with JDM bling that impresses mostly male nerds.
long overdue update for this R34: Owner sold the 2.8 stroker setup to another R34 owner and built an RB30 i retuned a few years ago now on a single precision 6870. New setup made 822hp at 30psi on 93ron/mon gasoline and was LOADS more fun to drive with great midrange power and response compared to the 2.8L on the old twin turbo setup. ****Update for any RB26 GTR owners or future owners there is now a Haltech Nexus S3 GTR plug in ECU that is likely the best value RB ecu option as of 2025. IMO the plug for oem engine harness is nice but lacks options to add sensors. Haltech solved this by adding a nice weather proof connector on the back of the ecu for extra I/O including DBW which makes it really easy/clean to add things like fuel pressure, flex fuel and DBW throttle/pedal.
