S2K engine in 240sx??

Can any experts tell me whether an S2000 engine will fit in a 1991 Nissan 240sx 5 speed. I doubt its been done before, but both are 2.0 liter, rwd, 4 cylinder engines. This would obviously require custom motor mounts, but are there any significant hinderances to successfully doing this?

Yes, I know you can easily swap an sr20 in there, but my friend has the opportunity to buy an engine from a wrecked S2K from his insurance company, and happens to also have a '91 240 with blown motor....any help would be appreciated, thanks!

wiring would be a b1tch. especially on an S13. Hondas are notorious for having everything electronically metered and controlled, so making that work with the engine room harness and then with the dash harness would be a hassle.

The motor mounts would be another issue, but easily fixed if you can do custom fabrication. Driveshafts would be another problem since the S2k probably uses a shorter shaft than an S13. Another custom done job.

The S chassis seems to be a very good candidate for RWD swaps. I've seen the typical SR, CA, Rb swaps. I've also seen VG and L series swaps. There's a guy in texas who has an Lt-1 swapped into his car. And I believe someone is currently finishing up a nissan V-8 swap into his S chassis.

The only hinderance I can see in this surgery is cost. But if he can get the engine for a song, then there's no harm in trying. Since his S13 can only get better (hard to get worse than a blown KA in this situation), he should go for it. It would be a truely unique swap. Make sure he has an FSM for both the S13 and the S2k. And I hope he knows a lot about wiring.

And I don't know how Honda has their AC or power steering mounted on the engine, but I can almost bet he'll have to live without AC for this swap. And he'll need to get some custom fabbed PS hosing done to reach from the pump to the rack.

I would think you would have to fabricate more than it would be worth. May run into alot of issues with converting electrical from nissan to honda. what a wiring nightmare!

Luckily,

He has access to the ecu, tranny, and everything else from the s2k, but I think you're all rite, the wiring would be a pain....

I wonder if he can carry his gauge cluster to the nissan and juss custom mount it...

Other than the electronics, motor mounts, and drive shaft, does anyone see any other differences?

the exhaust may prove to be a bit tricky. So he'll have to have a custom one made. The heater hoses will need to be rearranged and reworked to line up to the firewall. electronic (pieces like an ignitor chip -if it uses one-, etc) will need to be mounted. It's a lot of effort for minimal gains. He would basically be buying bragging rights. And as it has been stated in Lancer Gen, and Lancer Engine Tech: you can do anything with enough money.

I think the biggest question is: Why?

The cost of fabricating and installing and whatnot would most likely overcome any discount on the s2k engine.

while the s2k is considered a Front engine RWD car, its REALLY an MR car , the engines behind the front wheels. The engine is extremly technical/complicated, the gauges in th s2k are also all electronic which will cause further wiring problems and chaos for that matter.......and youll need a 6 speed tranny.

go with an SR swap, much more power and will be a bit easier.
