That's odd... of the hundreds (conservative estimate) of S2000 owners I've met, I can think of maybe 3 or 4 who were genuine a-holes.

all i'm saying is i seen a stock s2k with a vortech set at 8-9 psi with a catback run 12.6@111

imagine the sound at 9k rpm!! or in the new case, 8400....

i look at the whole aspect besides just go and stop.... yes it's smaller, but that isn't always a bad thing...

as long as people don't look at me like i'm part of that crowd, i don't mind. and yeah, i can also pick up some chicks
but i really love the evo. i'm hoping by gen 9 or 10 they will bring the AYC to america, that would be cool. i've heard rumors that the 9 will be out in mid-late '05 and the 10 in mid '06... anyone hear any of that, or hear any speculation as to whether the ayc/other JDM goodies will be here with the next evolved generation?

There's been a few posts about the IX in the Future Evo Forum.

Chapter 8 - Either you are a complete moron or you can't read. If you looked closely, you'll see I have an Evo and an S2000. I know the pluses/minuses of both. As for snap oversteer, the '04 doesn't do it like the earlier ones... Before you spout off, read a little bit.

i almost forgot about the 350z... i test drove one of those tonight, and i really like how it has that low end torque compared to the s2000... drives nicely too . shifting is smooth, but the clutch engages much more smoothly than the s2000, not sure if i like that as much. anyone have experience with the 350z? i know the tt'd 350's are hella fast, but i wouldn't plan on doing that. 287HP is a nice number NA. so, any opinions on this car? maybe you could throw in some about an STi if you've had personal experience... maybe

To the thread starter - I missed my S2K too much so I picked up another one to compliment the Evo.
but you're talking about comfort and day-to-day driveability. i was talking performance and fun factor. i owned an '01 for 2 years and i've test driven an '04...so i think i'm qualified to give an opinion here too.

main reason is cuz i would most likely buy a 350z or an s2k used (considering the s2k will prob. be discontinued after next year). plus, i gotta have my fun some way
evo, tho, i would prefer new, but i wanted to see what is was like to get an idea of what i was missing out on... it'll make me work harder too, which is a good thing.
but anyway, i'm still looking for any opinions on the 350z or the STi... wonder how the 350 does in snow with the wide tires. i read some things about the z having paint chipping issues/alignment and tire wear issues as well.
anyone wanna chime in w/ their experiences?

gotcha! My friend has a 350z, slightly modified and he has traction issues in the wet quite often. Not sure about the snow, but RWD and snow is the worst combination for sure, fun as hell sometimes, but aggrivating most of the time. Although snow tires have come a long way in the last few years.

Being tractable is as much about performance as day-to-day driveability. Not having to downshift ALL the time is good when you want to get the jump on an open spot or find yourself in too high of a gear for a decreasing-radius corner. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just pointing out that the changes are a big improvement in performance and fun. The fun side comes from a more progressive rear end that doesn't catch you out. Now it slides without biting. When I test-drove the '04, I didn't get the full picture. It's a lot of fun, however completely different from the fun in an Evo.

fair enough. for me, the fact that my '01 was so demanding (e.g. to keep it in the powerband) and unforgiving (e.g. to keep the a$$-end in control) was exactly what made it so much fun. but don't get me wrong, the '04s are still very cool. just different strokes i guess.

I liked that stuff, too, and you can still drive it that way - the difference is that it is MUCH faster if you wring the VTEC out now. It's hard to explain. As for the a$$-end coming around, I wasn't a big fan after looping it a couple of times in not-so-crazy driving. I tested out the new one on a 90-degree corner and got a nice, easy slide. I bet this new one wouldn't be a bad drift machine with a little more torque.

To the thread starter: The 350Z is pretty cool, but I just can't get around the horrible quality of plastics in the interior. Almost makes the Evo look plush. My friend Adam at Z1Auto.com has a REALLY nice Z.
