Smile Honda..Yeah i said iT!

Yes i said honda on EVOM like it is a good thing. Don't get me wrong I love my Lancer that is my baby! But i am to G'dammed afraid to drive it after all the time and money and experimenting done to the damn thing. So i made an executive decision, buy a cheap *** run me down car drive that till it blows up then drive the lancer again. So i did just that bought a 1997 Civic LX for $350.00 no lie. 115,000 miles good solid tranny, new belts, the works.

So now in my infinite wisdom of being an ***, i decided to give the car a little love. I wanna hook it up good, done a lot of research. Hondas are friggin easy cars to buy for, except for the LX damned cruise control! Any ideas for making this car special also, or should i just run it till it falls apart? open for ideas.

For $500 you can't get much go, so I say get a muffler and intake. Spend the rest on a body kit. At least have a good looking beater, no matter how slow it is.

that was awesome! yeah, i want a good looking beater. I don't plan on racin the damn thing thats what my lancer is for. I just don't wanna be caught driving this 1.6 without something to help me keep up with the rest of you. Magnaflow makes a good exhaust, i have that on my lancer, the honda version is $350, then a CAI is only around $100. Tanabe springs, $100. that will make it move a little better. BTW screw JUST the muffler. I like it CAT back, no poseurs. Still it's a beater, so when it dies, a highschool kid could buy it off me thinkin it's the shiznit.

If you want a good exhaust, go with the Apexi World Sport, it's an awesome exhaust. I bought a Nissan beater to save the Lancer, and I bought some nice tires and wheels for cheap ($300 total for Azenis and alloys), that's the only mod I have done and will ever do to it. Buy some nice rubber, and leave it at that.

I'll assume you're referring to the Civic riceboys. Honda makes/made a lot of good cars - NSX, S2000, Prelude, CRX, etc.

Regardless, the same is true of Lancers, Neons, Cavaliers, and whatever other economy cars people are trying to soup up.

You really need to appraise your situation. You've invested $350 into a beater car. If you get 10,000 miles out of it, I'd say it's a pretty solid purchase. If you leave it alone, I don't see why you couldn't get 25,000 miles or more out of it, so it's that much better of a buy. Putting any money into it ruins that, especially if you're looking at body kits and other garbage. It's still a Civic LX, which is a slow high mileage econo car. Your goal is to get from A to B, so why worry about appearances?

Leave it alone, drive it into the ground.

Agree with Billy. IMO, from a financial point of view, It just doesn't make too much sense to spend $500 on part that will depreciate to close to $50 (once you install them) onto the $350 car. You can put that $500 in other use that would give me better return....Just my opinion.

yep, why spend any money on it? A to B... Exhausts on Hondas irritate the crap out of me. Sound like a damn underwater fart.
