same price as a us MR with warranty

seems kind of like a RIP, also since almost nowhere can service the AYC, you're pretty much screwed unless this shop in FL could service it and then I"d have to drive from VA to FL

no thanks

for those prices I'll get a US evo

I hear the evo IX will have almost all the MR stuff

mabye I'll have to look into that

If you decide to buy th evar its not a big deal. Everybody and there mother that has a illegally imoprted car does this. If you wanna really play it safe register the car in a small town(they usually dont get alarmed by **** like this) There are plenty of VIN swapped RHD cars in richmond...nobody has had any issues. Just make sure you get it insured for the proper value.
A good excuse you can use is this.
You converted a lancer to a evo seven and swapped the front clip of th e7 making it right hand drive for show purposes. And when you swapped the front of the 7 onto your lancer you styaed with your lancer vin#'s since that is the only legal thing
DONT EVER TELL ANYONE ITS A VIN SWAPPED CAR

Unfortunatly you already told to many people on here.

The only other way to get a car around the system is buying it in south florida. Many people down there have connections in DMV and can get a car registered, its very common in miami.
or
You can buy a RHD 15 years or older like a r32 in canada..(they are legal) and then just mport it here or just drive it with Canadian plates.

If you have any other info pm me, Im pretty knowledgable about this stuff. Just keep your intentions off the net...never know who is reading
thank you, i was just about to say the same thing but waited to read the whole thread before i posted. there are legaly imported vii's in the u.s. w/o vin swapping. i almost bought one before the viii came but it was 45k. there should be no real crash test issues cause the chassis is the same as an viii w/o the front crash bar.,the best way is to have an importer do it legally, kinda hard after a vin swap.

if it's LHD, then its probably from germany.- not a bad place to get a car from- there safety requirements for windshield, crash and stuff are similar, and germans make fast cars.

From what I understand you can't take a crash test from a LHD car and use it for a RHD car.

Not sure if anyone has answered this yet but this is what I had to do for Maryland not sure what hoops the lovely state of VA would have you jump through.

1 A MVA Bill of Sale (form #VR-181), notarized by the seller(s) and buyer(s), must accompany the MVA Application for Title (form #VR-005).
2 The current year registration stub from the non-title state or the registration book from the foreign country and EPA, DOT, and Custom Papers must accompany the Application for Title. (If your current registration stub is not available, a verification of registration from the Motor Vehicle Department of the non-title state is acceptable.)
