Who does your installs and tuning in Va?
Just wondering where all the central Va and noVa Evo people are getting their mod installs and tuning work done. I live south of Richmond and I'm preparing to finally mod (23k miles) and I'm contemplating heading way up north to some of the more advertised tuner shops like TurboTrix in NJ or possibly even Buschur in Ohio, but I wouldn't mind staying around here either.
Are the majority of Va Evo owners doing this also or are most of you just going to Mach V in Sterling or Altered Amosphere in MD. I mean can these local shops handle major mods as well or better than the big name guys?
I read alot of articles and the majority seem to use Buschur, TurboTrix, and Dynoflash here on the East Coast. I haven't seen many people saying that Mach V and Altered Atmosphere did all their work and that they are thrilled to death with the results. I know that this may all be just magazine biased hype so I decided to ask some local guys for their two cents.
Now, I'm not bashing one shop over the other I'm just trying to get an impression for these smaller, less publicized shops.

Technically, Mach V doesn't do any work - they are retail. They are, however, in the same building as a shop, Ultimate Performance.
A great bet is AMSTuning (not AutoMotorSports, but AtlanticMotorSports) just across the border in MD, and they are always highly recommended by everyone who's gone there. I'm heading up there within a week or so for some work. Great guys, great prices and great work.

I liked altered atmosphere when I went there. They were really nice and gave me a killer deal on an APEXi N1 exhaust for my gf's 2nd gen eclipse. Talked with em for a week or so and picked it up with no problems whatsoever. Saw they had a nice modded evo on one of their lifts and a bunch of turbo'd cars (2nd gens, 350Z's, a camaro) in their lot.

If you are looking at driving that far, look at Direct Performance in Virginia Beach. They do not have an AWD dyno yet, but that will hopefully be coming this year at their new location. As far as modifications and installs go, they have years of experience with the 4G63 and have a good base of Evo knowledge from working on my car. If interested, PM me and I will get you the contact info.
