Big ticket like that I can assure you the judge was pissed that you showed disregard for his court by not showing.

I would bet he issued a bench warrant.

And a work emergency is no excuse for a no show for court. All you had to do was call the clerk and explain to her that you had a work emergency and you would be fired if you didn't go in. They would have rescheduled.

Does anyone know if you re-locate to a different state if the points transfer? Maybe I should move to entirely different country?

should have called the court and let them know that you had a emergency at work, and hopefully they could reschedule it. in ohio if you miss a court date you will have a bench warrant issued for your arrest. hopefully you will only have to pay the original fine for speeding and not the associated fines for the bench warrant.

I've had a bench warrant in VA for a FTA for the last year that I haven't been able to sort it out. They wouldn’t accept my guilty plea over the phone for doing 26 over and just send me the fine and put the points on my record. Instead they want to drive 550ish miles round trip to show in court, so I've just accepted the fact that I can't go back to VA (don't really care because I hate that state). MD is just going to give you a bigger fine for missing your court date, good luck.

I just got done talking to the court, apparently the situation isn't as serious as I thought. You can either:

1.) Write the judge with an explanation as to why you missed the date, and you may or may not get a rescheduled date.
2.) Pay the fine outright and this will grant you another court date.

I have 90 days from the date of the original court date to do either of these things before they issue a bench warrant.

So I will try to write the judge and kiss ***, but if that doesn't work, its $280 coming out of my pocket just to get another date. Hopefully this new date is on the pig's birthday so he doesn't show

Talking

No, the laws are alot different in Maryland than Virginia. They told me that no warrant would be issued until 90 days after the original court date (if I haven't paid). So I have 3 months until a warrant is issued.

Not to be a d!ck, but no work emergency is worth missing a court date. Your job could not doing anything to you for not showing up if you have a court date. The last time I was in traffic court, the judge would issue a bench warrant to anyone that wasn't showing up. When I left that day, 12 warrents were issued that day. I would double check with the court again to make sure you did not have a warrant. I have a feeling that the judge is going to make your wallet lighter.

The clerk did mention that rules change from county to county, so maybe that has something to do with the aforementioned discrepancies? I don't really consider myself lucky, because if I was lucky I would have never gotten pulled over Oh well I will never speed ever again until I get laser jammer. I have a friend who is a cop on the eastern shore of Maryland (near Ocean City) who said if I ever installed one he will test it for me =)

dude honestly I don't think a warrant can be issued for an FTA for a speeding ticket. Unless you were going seriously fast then it becomes a criminal offense vs. traffic offense I think.
Write the judge and tell him anything you must so he will give you another trial. Damn how much do you pay for insurance on your evo? I live in Baltimore too and only have 1 point and pay $250 a month, sucks! Hopefully it wasn't a baltimore county officer as those courts tend to crack the whip on ya!

Write that judge cause most likely the cop won't even show they hardly ever do, especially if your ticket was from a BCPD. Good luck!
