People have no clue what "good driving skills" consist of these days. Just because you passed a test and have a few months wheel time, doesn't mean you are responsible enough to handle a serious car.

Not that I necessarially posses all those driving skills myself......But I do know that almost no 16 year old kid has enough worldly life experience to posses it either.

The only people who will argue the point that it is ok to give kids fast cars are the kids who have recieved these cars themselves....or the parents who do it.

oh, and btw, a 14 yr old who "owns" an Evo....I think I'll just call BS on that one till I see some pics or proof otherwise. Who buys a new car for a kid who is 2 years away from being driving age?

SC~ :P
I'm glad someone is agreeing with me.

When you've been around, not just in age but in life, you tend to get jealous of those who don't work for what you've earned. It's called human nature. Nobody here was insulting the kid. We can't all be like you. By the way Gandhi, I thought you were dead?

What a crock, I gotta wait till 11:00 to hear about this. I'm sure I'll have to wait through all the other news stories first too.

exactly...

and the "don't hate the player...hate the game comment" was purely for entertaining purposes... as far as my recollection, the phase was meant for guys being guys -- all guys trying to get their "own"...whereever the reference to drugs came in is beyond me...but if you want to substitute your own words, be my guest...

and for all the haters...if you were given this opportunity of having an EVO bought for you at 16, what would you say?..."No mom/dad, I'm not a responsible individual yet who can handle that kinda of power with me behind the wheel-- I would rather you buy me a Lancer or Corolla instead." If that would've been your type of response... you're a ****in' liar!...

...don't hate...congratulate...

my dad bought my 16 yr old brother an evo. he learned how to drive that sucka like nothing in 3 days. if you thought buying a kid an evo is crazy, man you should roll down to newport and beverly hills where u see very young boys n girls driving m3, porshce, and ferraris. the point is don't hate, appreciate. you don't even know him. just pray the kid doesn't screw up the car god forbid in an accident because he was doing something irresponsible like street racing. we live in a crazy world so don't be suprised to see some kid driving a rally car with 300 horses.

*sniff sniff* i smell jealousy. and don't say it aint cuz you lying to yourself.

not all teenagers suck at driving but seems like it goes down like this. the crazy Fu**ers seem to always get the fast cars from their parents and once they wreck it what happens. their parents buy them another. the smart drivers and the ones that have some skill (me) get the econo lancers and what will happen when we wreck. we get to ride the bike buddy! some people are just lucky or they have stupid *** parents.

"we live in a crazy world so don't be suprised to see some kid driving a rally car with 300 horses. "

I guess that makes me one of those kids... (flame suit on)

But I do agree that the EVO is a lotta car for someone who is around my age -- for most people for that matter -- (I'm definitely scared as hell to drive it) but like someone mentioned, if you were given the opportunity and granted, would have been fortunate enough to have parents who had the means to buy you an EVO for example, chances are you would be hard pressed to turn it down.

Rather, I accept -- both the car and the responsibility that comes with driving such an awesome car. It's not right to judge a person by the car he/she drives...

You know....a lot of you guys assume this kid can't drive or will drive wrecklessly. Just because YOU were a dumbass kid when you were 16 does not mean that this kid will be. Most of you assume that every 16 year old kid will drive like they're gunning for everyone on the street. And hey....I admit that statistics tells us that. But what if this is the one of a few kids that are super respectful and careful. Just because you give a kid an evo doesn't mean he's going to go 100+ and street race. You guys don't know this kid and therefore have no right to accuse him of being a *****. What do we know from what the author wrote? His neighbor is a 16 year old kid who just learned how to drive stick and doesn't know jack about cars. THAT'S IT. He never mentioned that this kid races, revs, or even remotely acts like a dick in his car. If you're going to jump on someone, it should be the author, after all, this is what HE said.

What pisses me off even more is now i cant f*ckin win against him in a race.
So who's the racer here? The author is the one concerned about racing and winning in a race. No mention of the neighbor racing AT ALL. And who cares if this kids dad got him an evo. All you're doing is *****ing and crying over someone else's fortunate childhood. So what if you had to work all your life to get what you want. DON'T *****.....you have no idea how people outside the USA have to live. Spend a month in Africa and then tell me that you're not lucky to even be able to have the life and OPPORUNITY that you have presented here. A lot of people are willing to work to get somewhere, BUT they can't, they have no opportunity. And don't think it's that easy and just say "well then they should move here like my ancestors/dad/mom etc did" It ain't that easy anymore, you think they just let anyone into the USA?

Question:
Without lying to yourself, answer this seriously. Do you pay for your college? Do you pay for your room and board? Did you buy that supposed $31K car on your own credit or did daddy cosign? I
Answer:
Yes.

Take your car to the track... See how you do against a 16yr old kid who runs Jr. Dragster and is off before you even see the light.

I remember when my friend got a C32 for his 16th, everyone told him his dad was irresponsible. 2 Years later...20 thousand miles on the car, no accidents.
