I removed mine and in its place put a reflective decal on one of the horizontal cross members. Kind of looks European. May or may not be legal but the intent to comply is there,

In VA the law says it can't be louder than stock...

whatever that means.

Isn't that what an all wheel drive 271 horsepower four door sedan is made for?

Of course I drift my EVO. EVERY chance I get.

An exhaust system shall not be deemed to prevent excessive or unusual noise if it permits the escape of noise in excess of that permitted by the standard factory exhaust system
"can't permit more noise than stock" seems pretty clear to me

This is true. I just registered my car from Cali (that was within 30 days, right?), and there was no problem with no front plate, 20% tint, aftermarket everything. I guess I could use that in court: Since my car passed the state safety inspection, that would inherently mean I have a safe car...

You are required to have both tags in MD and VA... as everyone has already said probably..

Luckly I live in VA and have MD tags.. So I'm living life on the edge...

I've put my front tag in my windshield (Pure Evo VA tags, for you DCevoclub guys...) and had numerous cops look at me and keep going. I hooked the tag on with suction hooks. At first i only had the hooks on the top, but when accelerating the tag would shoot right off! I have hooks now at all 4 holes. I'm pretty sure in VA if you have the tag displayed somewhere in the front, you won't ever have a problem.

I did get pulled over in South Arlington in my old car for no tag... big wheels, dark tint, exhaust, but (I swear to god) when I rolled down my window and the cop saw I was white, he looked suprised and let me go with a crappy explanation that I bent the tag on a curb so I took it off to "fix" it!

in DC, if you don't have a front place, you'll get ticketed regardless of whether your a resident there.

That's a really stupid law. Not every state requires front tags, and the people who live there don't have an extra tag. So that means those people can't drive through D.C.!
