I am tired of modding my car without having the skills to be able to drive the car like it was meant to be driven. The event I am thinking of attending is the Nov. 1 and 2 one at Summit Point. This will be my first track event. I think it would be a good place to start. Anyone interested?

 

Check out car guys. (www.carguys.com I think) They put together a great, safe event especially if you are a first timer. I had the same instructor all day for both days. Plus it is in July, why wait till November.

I would steer clear from FATT unless you can get in group 2 or higher. There are too many cowboys in group one, and its not as well controlled.

don't know much about the one you recommend, but try 'em all.

If eventually you want to race - you may want to stick to NASA events, so they count toward a license. Either way document what you do, and keep it so you can show the next school/organizer. It will help you get bumped up where the groups are less crowded, and you can focus on learning.

it is called Friday at the track. it can be a blast and you can learn a ton. you ride with an instructor each time you go out and whn you come in to the pits, you are evaluated.

for what its worth, I went to FATT with the GLI last summer and had a great, great experience. My first instructor and I didn't mesh very well but the second one I had, Andrew, was awesome. I heard, but don't know if its true, that the instructors get paid in track time, not money, so it's enthusiasts training fellow enthusiasts which made for a very enjoyable time.

I went to the FATT last week, and I have to say I had a great experience compared to my last few. Again I was in group 2 so less people, no slow trains, and more respectful drivers. The instructors I had this time were great. For four sessions I had three, I would prefer 1 or 2 but ok. Two of the instructors gave great feedback. Example: rather than just saying "be smoother", I was given specific things to do to accomplish that goal. Also by having the same guy twice, he was more comfortable with me and could see where i was progressing. Having more time with him we were able to try a couple different lines too and see what worked best for my car/set up.

Fatt has gone up a few notches in my book. I'll definitely be out there more this summer!

 

I have been attending Audi Club(you don't need to own an audi to be a member) and TrackDaze HPDE's for the past couple of years and both do a fantastic job. Very organized, excellent instructors and everyone that attends the events are always very helpful. I think trackdaze.com still has openings for their Summit Point event in July.
