I will be moving to Kenosha in May or June and I had a few questions for Wisconsin residents:

1) Can you have the front plate off? In IL you are not supposed to, but you can get away with it...

2) Tinted windows - Is it correct that you can have tinted windows on the driver and front passenger sides?

Yes you need a front plate. Kenosha cops are pretty good but the Racine one's hate pretty much everyone. Tinted windows depends on the cops mood, but law states the 35% or lighter is legal on the front windows, and pitch black on the rear windows including the back.

 

Aww nutz! I hate the front plate...well guess I will have to slap it on.

I don't have a front plate and i never got pulled over yet! (knock on wood)

 

I got pulled over by Waukesha Co. Sherriffs for no front liscense plate in 5 o clock rush hour and he pulls me out of the car and fully searched me and the car and I laughed at him when all he pulled me over was for a 45 day warning for no liscense plate Waukesha Co. Can lick *****

 

Well that was illegal what the cop did. He can only search your car if there was or is criminal intent. Meaning tht you are suspiciously dodging questions and what not. I would have said hell no, and until he finds a valid reason to search my car than...

 

Knowing there was nothing in my car i said go ahead and search it just dont touch anything mod wise and he said ok searched 5 mins and i was on my way so good to know next time

 

That is good to hear. I will try to go without it till I get caught. I know it will be just a matter of time, but I don't really want to put the plate on.

 

Ive been pulled over twice for my plate here in wisconsin, but then i took a hammer to my plate holder and said that i got into an accident and parts are on the way hahaha havent been pulled over since but i have it in my trunk just in case. And i have 22% tint on my evo and no problems yet, i live in jackson wisconsin (cop central) but i have been pulled over for my wing but i had a lawyer get my out of it.
