d=v0*t +1/2 *a*t^2

We will say V=0 because horizontal velocity has nothing to do with vertical velocity. We would only use this v if we knew your exact speed and wanted to find out the distance you traveled while airborne.

So, vertical d=1/2*30f/s[gravity] *5[seconds] = 75 feet (the seconds cancel out) in the air vertically to obtain 5 seconds total hang time.

You do realize that a well kicked punt in the NFL has about 5 second hangtime, right?
