It does it sometimes, I'd say 2 out of 5 times when I push it that far. Last time I pushed it to 6000K rpm's it didn't pop, but check engine light came on. It gives me code 230 saying that Engine Has Overboost Condition. (I run 20 psi)

Any ideas why it might do that or what needs to be done to get it fixed?

Thanks
Did this just start happening? Have you had the ecu flashed? Could be with the cold weather you are getting more boost than 20psi and boost cut is coming in

It started about 4 weeks ago. But the car has been sitting already for about 2 weeks, so I happened quite often when I was driving it. Slick says thgat's the first time he sees that code in the evo (by the way it's 234), I have MBC, the boost is stable. It goes up a bit at higher rpm's. I was told it's normal for a car with MBC

Boost creep is not a good thing, and is definitely not normal whether you run MBC or EBC. How much boost are you spiking at peak and how far down does it taper? Or does it not taper? I presume the car hiccups when you're running full throttle? Try tuning down the boost a few pounds and see if it helps.

I agree. Typically, on a stock turbo'd Evo, it will be the exact opposite. You'll - on an 03 - spike to ~ 19 lbs and fall to 15-16ish. If you're running more than that and if it's going up, you should tone it down. WHere did you tap your MBC?

Have to tried doing some of the more simple things, like changing the plugs and wires?

Hey guys, I was up in Cleveland on Sunday and saw an evo and was wondering if it was anyone's on here. I passed by it very quickly, so I didn't really get a good chance to see it, but It was parked on St. Clair around 11:20am. It was apex silver, (a 9, i think) with a jdm 9 rear, black rim, vortex generator, jdm mr tails. It looked awesome and if it is yours I give ya props for a sick lookin car!

Thanks, that was more than likely my sled that you saw. You should hang with all of us Evo geeks sometime.

And to Evolution[OH], the MBC is not a "set it and forget it" item. It needs to be adjusted periodically throughout the year/seasons in accordance with weather variations (temp, humidity, etc..) to maintain the desired boost setting.

You know "art" can mean many things......

In this case my gaydar is sensing that it means "man."

Meaning.... " -then man show at my place."

The hiccups is what I'm talking about, it started recently and it happenes around 5000-5500K rpm's. The boost doesn't tapper down, and Matt told it's ok. I run 20 psi and it goes up just a bit, to about 21 at full trotle and all the way to 7K. I went to Slick's and he erased the code, so far it didn't come up again. But I haven't had a chance to test the car. I turned it down to 19 psi or 18, really hard to tell. And like I said I haven't had a chance to see if it hiccups, it didn't when I tired, but before it didn't do all the time either, so I have keep trying to see if turned down boost is the answer. Also Matt told me that with MBC the boost doesn't go down, he told me that only stock unit was doing so. Was I told the wrong thing? If so, then why does go up and not down?
