The Quaker Steak and Lube in Sheffield/Avon is having the first night of cruise-in's
Sunday, April 23rd. Show should start around 5pm until 8pm. I'll be up there with the wife and the White evo VIII. Take I-90 to the 145 exit.

Damn, wtf!

I went to dragway 42 and ran my evo for the first time. I came around 10:30. There were about 100 cars (It was street and tune). I met 2 evo owners there (actually 3, but to the 3rd one I spoke briefly). See, it might sound dumb, but I know zip about AWD or Evo (draging wise). So I asked how should I launch, but didn't get an answer cause it was my turn to go. And then the worst happened. I rev it up to 4000 and dumped the clutch , and it felt like crap - my reaction was +.7701, and I was shifting at 6500 rpm and was shifting pretty smoothly because I haven't really raced Evo yet (earlier today I missed 2nd, so I was trying not to do the same mistake again) I ran 15.2928 . I had one evo owner in the car with me next time, he told me he was going to watch and see what I was doing wrong (except those things I did already), but then rain started and it happened to be my only run for tonight.

I'm suspecting something wrong with my Evo because as far as I know Evos should run about high 13's stock. I know I messed it up big time (but I'm not that bad of a driver ), but with my poor reactions, my 6500 rpm shifts and smooth shifts is that about the time I should have ran???? Or should I have ran better? I mean was that my bad run + something wrong with the car or was that just a very bad run????? I reved it up so those 2 guys could hear my engine and maybe could tell if anything was wrong with it, but just by revs they told me everything seems to be fine.

By the way thanks to the Red EVO owner and his friend whatever their usernames are here.

P.S My evo is all stock, and I still beat slightly modded 98 Prelude SH , he's my friend, but he had a poor start also. But his SH doesn't even stand close to EVO

well when it comes to dragging - dadriva is the one to talk to - I have found that holding your revs to 6000-6500 rpm and slipping the clutch out works best for launching the car - i was able to cut a 1.7s 60' the one time i went last year (all season tires) - i wouldnt worry about your times this first time out - get a new clutch on order and come out to the strip with us whenever we make it out

I remember seeing a white evo 8 at the rink here a few months ago just wondering if it was anyone on the board.
I go to Kent State, where do you live there?

All it takes is one little mistake to add a second or two to your ET. Your car is probably fine it was just you. Your first time to the dragstrip is a huge learning experience and it just takes practice.

What was your MPH? That is the best indicator of the power your car is making.

Hey man I was the guy in the RR '03. Like I said AWD isn't extremely hard to launch but if you have never done it before it is different. I ran a 13.5 with a stock '03 same as yours first time to the track on saturday, but this is my 3rd awd car. I might be up there again tuesday. Don't worry you'll get the hang of it.
