Oh man, that sounds too fun! I'd totally be down if I wasn't already going to be out of town. I want a full report on here if anybody from our area goes!

Are there any good casinos near buschur and the dragstrip @ the shootout? If someone could list some names and experiences, that would be great.
I am thinking about heading to OHIO for the shootout.

Casinos are illegal in Ohio, so... no, not really. The closest is probably Detroit, which is a good 2-2.5 hr drive from Buschur.

For those of you living in a cave The 17th Annual DSM/EVO Shootout is this weekend.

Saturday at our shop 9-5 is an open house, car show, dyno competition. The streets are closed off as the town is full of cars and people. HUGE event. Saturday evening we will be having a hang out at the shop, small bon fire, hotdogs, soft drinks, just a relaxed get together.

Sunday at Summit Motorsports Park, 9-5 is the actual race. You don't want to miss this. $35 car and driver, $15 spectators. Kids under 12 are free. $14,000+ in payouts for the race.

Come on our and bring your friends/family.

So are the streets closed off to your shop? I've never been there, I just want to make sure I'll be able to find the place.

Hello all!

I just found out the Army is moving me to the Twinsburg area at the end of next month. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you guys around and to buying a set of snow tires lol. If you see a GG X with no wing, stealth exhaust and a CF lip spoiler then it could be me

Right now my X has only 3000 miles and I'm taking it easy with just a catback and AP, but I'll be looking at getting more serious for next summer. Looks like I'll have to get acquainted with Buschur

I'm wondering if there are any good performance driving schools in the area...I've been itching to hit one since I got back from Europe last year. Maybe an ice driving course too lol.

EDIT: How "tuner friendly" is OH anyway?

What do you mean by "tuner friendly"? If you mean cops giving you **** for having a loud car etc.. I would say no issues. In the 6 years I've had my VIII only been pulled over once for no front plate and that was pretty much so the cop could tell me how awesome his mustang is. My car is pretty loud too.

I agree, not much in the way of issues in that way. I've had some loud vehicles and never got pulled over for the noise. Of course, I try to be smart about making too much noise too.

On a separate note, I saw about 8 Evos and some older DSM's on 80E heading toward PA on Sunday at about 7:30pm. I was on 80W coming back from a weekend in DC area. Obviously those cars were heading back from the shootout. It was cool to see so many Evos/DSM's on the freeway! Too bad I didn't make it to the shootout, though. :-(

Trusted Central Ohio shops for regular maintenance

Back in the day I would do this myself. But these days not so much:

I need all the fluids changed as I hit my 20K mark:

coolant
diff's
trans

The last time I had a dealership change my oil (hey it was convenient) they must have tagged my oil sender which caused 2 more visits before they warrantied the sendor.

I am in the columbus area.

TIA

I mean are there state inspections and how stringent are they

I'm not too worried about noise; I got the Perrin stealth catback and it is barely louder than stock. I prefer to go under the radar, which is why I went wingless too

I was looking at the BMV site and, to my surprise, radar detectors are legal in OH. I don't habitually speed, so it would probably not be worthwhile....any opinions?

lol Ohio cops and drivers are notoriously bad. So much so that if you mention where you are from you will usually get a story (whether you like it or not) about it.

They use planes throughout the state. They have motorcycle enforcement in the bigger towns. Drivers in ohio follow the bizzaro rule of drive <slowly> left and pass right. The state is broke so we dont vote for much in the way of pay raises for police so they happily subsidize by writing tickets. If you have out of state tags, might as well paint a bulls-eye on ur car.

So will a radar detector be worth while ? prolly not. Just keep ur eyes open and keep ur nose clean.
